Brazilians will be getting a handheld Genesis system on December 5th. It will have 20 built in games ranging from Sonic, Altered Beast, Ecco, Golden Axe, Kid Chameleon and more. This is an official Sega product and it will take 20 D sized batteries to run. I'm just kidding, that was a jab at the Game Gear. I'm hilarious! It only needs three AAA batteries to run.
This does sound like an awesome idea but there's just one small little detail that ruins this entire concept. It costs R$199, which converts to $113 US monies. If you really needed a portable Genesis, then I'd suggest buying a Nomad online. They're less than half of this machine and you can actually swap out different games in the Nomad ... And you can use the left over cash to rent out a hooker too!
Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Anyway, cool!
rod: The tip came in to GamePro. Didn't know they posted it too (I rarely visit them, no offense, I like the site, just rarely have time to go to it).
I´m jumping to next-gen now, only because my father is going to Chicago and hopefully bringing back a Wii with him :)
Without any kind of support for the last 3 generations, I wonder why people are still amazed of piracy here...
Yeah, a PSP Genesis collection would make more sense.

Nah, too expensive. With this money I can almost buy and original Wii game. Serious: they're out here for something like 250 brazilian bucks, even the old and crappy ones like Red Steel. Niiiice country.
DAMMIT!
there's no developer support, because it comes with those 20 games and that's it, no cartridges, no cd, no memory stick, no usb connection, nothing. it's just like a super evolved minigame, wich will never get any imporvement at all.. ok, it can be plugged on your tv, but that's as good as it gets! still I'd buy one if it were like half the price...
Maybe in 2032 we will have those Sony PS3 everybody is talking about. I hope I not blind yet then...
Now they are no longer representatives of Sega (hence the lack of Sega logos on the consoles they manufacture today) they pay licensing fees for Sega to use their games (hence no third party games on the consoles they do today).
