Brand new Link's Crossbow Training screens: Seriously, did he steal it? photo

This recent NeoGAF thread contained the below screens -- though no word on where they came from -- from Nintendo's upcoming Link's Crossbow Training. The title looks prettier than it did the last time we showed off its media, but they have yet to show us something that indicates it will be anything other than a disposable pack-in title.

Then again, the most fun your cat has ever had was with a cardboard box and some plastic packing bubbles. If you could learn to be more like your cat -- or Professor Whiskers -- you wouldn't have such high hopes for video games. In the end, if this title sucks, it's your fault for demanding quality! There's no one to blame but you, so you may as well stop crying.

Nintendo, I accept both cash and bags of cash.

Thank you for your time.

For $20 including the shell I'm not expecting too much. How deep were Duck Hunt or Super Scope Six after all?

Super Scope Six had that awesome game where you had to shoot the missiles out of the sky. I loved that game!

Oh and I hope that Namco brings out a Point Blank game for the Wii....

It looks...OK. Nothing crazy or anything. I would of rather wanted Duck Hunt 2.

It brings back memories...(oh, they'd better not make that a retail game)

yea, they're sticking with the crossbow huh?

Seems like they could have made it interesting by making it cross training with different weapons (and not just on one that link never used anyway...): bow, boomerang, hookshot, bombs, wand, sword beams.

what else?

Why is everyone so hung up on it being a crossbow anyway? It may not have been in the games, but it's not like Link is shooting Octoroks with a laser cannon... and it makes more sense considering the shape of the Zapper. Is it people bitching just to bitch?

Do the targets break when you hit them, so you get to see these gorons in all their earthy glory?

@ Mxy
Considering the shape? Er...what shape is the zapper in again? I never saw any crossbow that looked like that.

Hey Necros, you're not staring at your controller while you're playing anyway.

I'm skeptical as to how cool this will be. It feels like they're just using the Zelda name more than anything to promote this. Perhaps Mario didn't want in on this one. I hear he's grumpy when you don't give him his 'shrooms.

@Mxy
Actually, I'd pay good money for a game in which Link shoots Octoroks with a laser cannon.

@ Necros: It's gun shaped... a crossbow is held like a pistol or a rifle when fired (depending on the size of the crossbow), and therefore the Zapper much closer to that than say a long bow.

Crossbow? What happened to the normal Bow? Is this a automatic quick-fire crossbow :( ? And hell, I DEMAND the firewand before any concideration of purchase!

I'm sure this game will be worth the $20. I have no doubts about that.
