Ze Germans have perhaps inadvertently revealed to the world that Xbox Live Arcade's critically acclaimed Braid is heading to the PlayStation 3. The Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle rating board spilled the beans just recently, also revealing that Hothead Games would be bringing the port over.
Braid is nearly a year old, as is Castle Crashers, and the latter was already confirmed for PSN. If this turns out to be true -- and rating boards aren't often wrong with these unofficial announcements -- that would mean the PlayStation 3's digital platform would have arguably the two best XBLA games ever released. Quite a massive coup indeed.
We've contacted Jonathan Blow for comment and you can hit the jump for his response! This is looking quite likely though, which is terrific news for any PS3 fans who haven't played the brilliant puzzle platformer.
Here's what Blow had to say on the matter:
Well, my personal opinion is that it would be great if Braid were to come out on PSN. As for whether that is going to happen, and if so, when... I am going to have to refer the question to Hothead for comment. They are handling the potential publishing of the game through PSN, which involves an approval process, and I don't know where Braid is in that approval process right now and whether Sony will ultimately want the game.
So, it seems out of the developer's hands, but it looks like Hothead is indeed working on this. We'll keep following the story and wait Hothead's reply.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Braid and Castle Crashers were actually two of the main reasons I was considering getting a 360. That and Culdcept Saga (which I don't care about anymore since I found the near perfect english fan-translation for Culdcept DS!)
Now I'll just wait it out.
I refuse to go through another Neon Genesis Evangelion. My mind has been fucked with thrice.
There shall not be a forth.
GODDAMN IT! HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?!?! I WANTED IT ALL TO MYSELF, DAMN IT! ALLLLLLL....TOOOOOO....MYYYYYSEEEEELLLLLLLLFFFFFFFFARUEAROIEJARFRRAAARRRGGGH!
Just kidding. I love my Xbox 360, but why would anyone mind that more people get to play a game? It's not as if anyone bought a 360 just to play Braid or Castle Crashers...right?
Right?
Can the PS3 fans handle it?
Oh wait, it's been explained already. Damn.
"BRAID! MORE LEIK SHIT!... Oh it's coming to PSN now? Well a game that awesome couldn't be held on ircoshit consoles forever!"
It's probably going to be like Xbox fanboys before and after Metal Gear Solid 4 and the confirmation of Metal Gear Rising or Wii fanboys and Street Fighter 4 and TVsC.
11/10
LOL
GoldenGamerXero tore it down.
I'm mildly excited because I don't know too much about the game.
I bet theres more to come yet.
WHAT A HOTHEAD!
PSN never disappoints for new and interesting titles and adding Braid to that collection is a massive plus!
Microsoft choose the price for the XBLA as they wanted to test the waters for the new 1200mp standard price point, so I am hoping that the PSN price is less.
Just awesome.
Did you finish it?
This is the only game I've ever played that made me feel actual emotions when I finished it.
Beautiful game. Expertly crafted. Everyone should get to play this.
I'm been waiting for both Castle Crashers and Braid to come to PSN for a long time and now they're coming.
Only a few more games now I want off of XBLA to come to PSN.
I want Namco to bring their newer arcades games to PSN.
ex.) Pac Man: Championship Edition, Galaga Legions, Space Invaders Extreme, etc.
Along with Castle Crashers; Alien Hominid HD should also come to PSN.
Since Bizarre Creations owns Geometry Wars and they're now part of Activision they should also port those games over to PSN.
Pop Cap Games already made a deal to release 3 game series on PSN.
ex.) Heavy Weapon, Zuma, and Feeding Frenzy.
Dude.
PSN now have the best arcade games as of now.
Only 360 games I want now are Mass Effect and Gears of War and I'll be happy.
Mass Effect owned by EA you know it's coming.
Gears of War isn't 1st party they can come over to PS3 must like what Kojima did w/ Metal Gear Solid.
@dirty89
Only GoW is impossible , but trust me , it's no big deal , the SP is repetitive and the MP is buggy ...
the european playstation store just needs mgs1 and oddworld PS1 classics before becoming truely awesome.
I play my PS3 quite often and I never hated Braid that it was--at the time exclusive on 360 in the console department. There were other options. I just downloaded it for my Mac instead.
