Braid coming to Mac, The Maw hitting Windows thanks to Hothead Games photo

Using its digital distribution know-how, Hothead Games (of Penny Arcade Adventures fame) will be collaborating with independent developers to bring their original games to the Mac and Windows platforms.

The first two games are none other than Braid and The Maw. In case you hadn't heard, Braid is also making its way to the PC, but as far as the Mac version is concerned, Hothead has the exclusive digital publishing rights.

The Maw, having also debuted on Xbox LIVE Arcade, will be brought to "multiple as-of-yet-unannounced digital distribution platforms." I think we can all agree that Steam would be a lovely candidate.

I genuinely enjoyed playing both Braid and The Maw, so it's fantastic to see more people getting the opportunity to play them. Did any of you guys miss out playing these titles?

HOTHEAD GAMES AND INDIE DEVELOPERS TEAM UP TO BRING GAMES TO NEW PLATFORMS

"Braid" for Mac® and "The Maw" for Windows® Coming Soon

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Feb. 24, 2009 - Hothead Games revealed today its plans for a one-of-a-kind model of collaboration with other top-notch independent developers. This unique collaborative effort marries indie studios' creative game designs with Hothead Games' multi-platform development and digital distribution expertise to bring award-winning titles to new gaming platforms.

Among the first to join in this effort is Jonathan Blow, whose 2008 launch of Braid via Xbox LIVE® Arcade amazed gamers with its innovative game play and distinctive art style. Hothead Games is partnering with Blow to bring his ground-breaking game to the Mac® platform and has secured exclusive digital publishing rights to that version.

Further, Hothead Games has forged a new fellowship with The Maw developer Twisted Pixel. Launched last month on Xbox LIVE® Arcade, Hothead will deliver The Maw to the Windows® platform, integrating special features to make the crowd-pleaser compatible with multiple as-of-yet-unannounced digital distribution platforms and services.

"We focus on finding new distribution opportunities so that they can focus on what they do best: developing their next great game," said Hothead Games COO Joel DeYoung. "These two titles represent only the tip of the iceberg. We're committed to working with indies and helping them be successful, so look for lots more announcements to come."

Cool. I was planning on buying the PC version of Braid, but now I might just pick up the Mac version of it instead.

Well the maw will be an instant buy. Oh just please put it on Steam, or at the very least Impulse.

I'm pretty sure The Maw will be coming to steam. I was on the site the other day and saw the Steam at the bottom of the page. It's gone now as it was probably up to early. But I'm pretty sure I saw it.

Awesome. Now give me Braid on PSN/PSP so I can buy it twice more. The Maw on PSN would be cool too.

Lol, don't bring up a Linux version of Braid, Blow got in a huge bitchfight over that.

Happy The Maw is coming to PC though, as I'm not sure I can bring myself to spend money on Braid.

Very much been wanting to play Maw. I almost convinced my housemate to let me buy it on her XBox 360, but she didn't want a free video game for some reason.
