Listen up, agents, here is your summer plan -- you're going to be playing Ruffian's Crackdown 2. The game is set to ship to North American store shelves on July 6. Asia, Australia, and New Zealand will see the game on July 8. Europe, hold tight -- it's coming July 9.
To kick off the "road to launch," Ruffian has released a video documentary entitled, "Fun With Friends." The first of three, it shows off the game's "non-stop, crazy action," which means a lot of crap blows up. No really, a lot of it.
The game's producer, James Cope, has promised a demo of the game prior to launch. Start frantically refreshing the Xbox LIVE Marketplace now.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
also did they use the same engine?
doest look any different or better. oh well no big deal.
but the multi player is looking like alot of fun! but im starting to think that crackdown would be better off as a multi player only game with 32 players. i mean who played it for the story?
I love crackdown. This news has made my mundane Monday all worth it.
on topic, this is looking good, wonder if it will be picked up now there's no beta bundled :p
Hell, the first one did too, I just never got a round to playing it.
However, given that I've always been a "I want my gameplay! Quick wasting so much time on pretty visuals!" person I will just shut up. The Co-op part sounds very cool overall. I guess like MAG, if you going to put a lot of players into a giant world, you have to sacrifice something in order for it to work right.
The first game didn't exactly "wow" either, but there were normally so many explosions, cars and bodies flying through the air, people jumping over buildings, etc., that you didn't spend a lot of time gazing at the scenery.
Like you said, sacrifice.
Alpha Protocol is a new IP with a bit of a rocky history, whereas the original Crackdown was a big hit. I can almost guarantee more people will buy this than Alpha Protocol -- not that I have anything against Alpha Protocol, I think it looks interesting, but just saying. Crackdown 2 is going to sell well regardless.
My favorite part of the first game: jumping off the Agency Building.
