Brace yourself: Crysis system requirements released photo

Actually, the system specs aren’t nearly as bad as I thought they’d be. On the other hand, it looks like I’ll barely be able to run Crysis at all, and many of you will probably fall into the same category. Take a look:

Minimum System Requirements:
OS - Windows XP or Windows Vista
Processor - 2.8GHz or faster (XP) or 3.2GHz or faster (Vista)
Memory - 1.0GB RAM (XP) or 1.5GB RAM (Vista)
Video Card - 256MB (NVidia GeForce 6800GT or greater; ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (Radeon X800 Pro for Vista) or greater)
Hard Drive - 12GB
Sound Card - DirectX 9.0c compatible
Recommended System Requirements:
OS - Windows XP/Vista
Processor - Intel Core 2 DUO @ 2.2GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
Memory - 2.0 GB RAM
GPU - NVidia GeForce 8800 GTS/640 or similar

Before anyone has a hissy fit, remember that Crytek’s mission was to create “the most stunning, immersive FPS experience ever.” I think that they’ve accomplished that goal quite nicely. But at what cost to the player?

Give us the dirt, can you run Crysis or not?

[Thanks, David!]

There will undoubtedly be an eventual console port (This is EA publishing it, after all), however it'll undoubtedly be quite a qhile until that happens and the port won't be handled by Crytek; they're PC only people. The Far Cry console ports were handled by other companies, and crap.
I trust that Crysis will actually run pretty well; Far Cry ran fantastic on my low end DX8 PC. Like 40+ FPS at 800x600.

Got a bit worried when I saw 2.6 GHz being the minimum, relieved when I looked down and saw 2.2 GHz Dual Core was the recomended, good to see some Dual Core support :)
Let's see. . .
2.8GHz AMD 64FX (Dual Core) Check!
4.0 GB DDR2 Ram (Corsair) Check!
GeForce 8800 GTS (640 MB Ver.) Check!
Looks like I'm good to play Crysis! :D

Funny thing is that this isn't that far ahead of other recent PC games. It's just that most of the other games are on consoles as well, so that the specs of the PC versions don't get as much attention, but if you look them up (do it yourselves), they are close, particularly Bioshock and Gears.

I am exactly at the minimum requirements, which I'm sure means I could just barely get 30fps out of my case if I overclocked the shit out of it. And since it doesn't have a decent cooling system, it would catch fire after me managing to fire my gun once. After I get a PS3, we are headed to new computer central. My wallet is scared, I can feel its fear.

I'm right on at the recommended specs... makes sense since I just recently built this PC because of Crysis.

This is getting kinda weird... I bought my PC like 3 years ago almost, and the only thing I've done to it since then is add a gig of ram... And yet I always somehow manage to meet the minimum system requirements. I mean I knew that I had bought a good computer back then, but this is kinda getting crazy. Fun times while my luck lasts though

Oh yes...there is a god, system only built last week, BLASTS[/] these specs thankfully, [b]two 8800gtx ultras will play this quite easily.

BUT, having said that, like others on here, its nothing new, its far cry with updated graphics on MP, so I aint exactly gonna be running out to the store to buy it first
