As for the article, I wish I had a PC capable of running this, but I can't even turn the settings too high on Portal or it slows down, so if I pick this up, it'll be for the PS3.

I hope my PC passes the benchmark test.... I was able to play Fallout 3 and practically had everything at maximum, but... things advance so fast that I'm sure it's as obsolete as an Vic-20.... XP

Yes! I keep an eye on the Steam Store's coming soon list, and I've been hoping to see Borderlands there for a while now. Definitely the PC version for me, stuff like this is why I keep my PC reasonably up to date. Since its on Steam, I'll also get normal US prices, rather than inflated Aus/NZ retail.
Definitely getting this on PC. Playing fps games on a console feel like driving my car with my knee. Yes, it can be done, but I won't be winning any races.
Oh, and by looking at the game, I'm guessing the minimum specs will be:
3Ghz Single Core
1GB Ram (2GB for Vista)
Geforce 6600 or equal
But that's just my mildly educated guess.

It's running on the Unreal 3 engine so you can get a rough idea of how your computer will do by comparing it to how your machine handles Unreal Tournament 3, Bioshock and Mass Effect.
Granted that's not a 100% thing but chances are extremely good if your computer doesn't choke and die on those games you're good for Borderlands.

Steam purchase it will be, then. The region I'm in takes forever to get games anyway... I would be hating myself for not having the game day 1.
See, it's stuff like this, when us PC gamers are treated with respect, that really makes me glad to hand over my money for a game.

It's good that they're paying attention to the PC market, but it does rankle a little bit that you have to pay £10 more for a console game that's not going to be as good as the PC version (it'll be £40-45 for the console, & £30 for the PC version guaranteed).
I could get this for the PC, but I probably won't. My PC is in a different room to the TV & PS3, so getting it working from the PC to the TV would be a chore. My Logitech G9 is wired, & will not reach my armchair without USB extension wires trailing all over the place.
Personal preference I suppose. I'll wait for the reviews.

These "extra features" are not exclusive to the Steam version as all the PC versions will be the same (and the benchmark demo will be released via download before the game is released).
I still need to get this on 360, perhaps on PC later on but all the people I want to be playing co-op with are on there, so...
Awesome. I'll probably get it on Steam, even though it would probably run better on my 360 than my laptop, just because it's cheaper.
tempting, but I think Borderlands is going to be more fun with friends than with those few extra freatures, and that is totally worth the extra ten dollars and not as great graphics.
I'm getting it for the PS3. I have a very capable gaming PC, but the majority of people I game here with are on my PS3 friend's list.

Also, why did you whine about your windows install but forgot to whine about the amount of xbox's that have broken? Because it was convenient for your lame argument if you left out that little detail. Admit it. I haven't had any problems with Windows in years. Then again, I happen to know how to maintain a computer.
I guess I'm lucky. I have a Ps3 and a PC and because of that, have the best of both worlds (since there's no reason to own a 360 with this setup.) No fanboyism necessary.

Absolutely without a doubt getting it for the PC. I have a PS3 and it never even crossed my mind to buy it for it. I'll be pre-ordering it on steam as soon as it's available. Good on ya gearbox.
Thank god they're actually spending the time to make the PC version a PC game. That's always the first thing i had to do when i got, say, Oblivion or Fallout 3, was mod it to be PC centric.
That and not limiting the graphics to console hardware. That always pissed me off when the PC version could be so much more but devs didn't bother.

To those wondering what platform to buy Borderlands for - just pick the one that most of your friends will play on! Playing co-op is a real blast, and if you have the opportunity to choose a platform where lots of your friends will be, that's the way to go!
Will it be available on other digital distributors? Steam sucks for EU, I won't be paying ~15-20% more than the game costs in the US and other countries.
Also, will it be cross-platform? I'm glad they are taking the PC version more seriously than other developers who don't even rename the button names in the Options menu.

Sold. PC please. Can't stand sticks for shooters, and my new 5870 should max this baby out nicely , can't wait!
The .jpg export thing isn't hugely important, it saves you the steps of hitting print screen then cropping the item text out of the screenshot in MSPaint, which isn't a huge cost (I've been playing Diablo 2 again with friends and end up doing that frequently to show off some new leet gear I found, or manually type the stats into chat as I play, "+3 all Skills, +1 Fire Skills, +200% MP, +60% FCR, hell yeah dudes!").
Anyone curious about the minimum stats needs to remember that it's just an Unreal Engine 3 game. There's a pretty stable base there underneath Borderlands and they'd have to really, really fuck up to make it not run on just about anything modern.
