Borderlands PC update 1.30 is kind of hilarious photo

You're probably wondering how in the world a patch can be humorous. Yeah, me too. Somehow, Gearbox achieved the impossible and created such a thing. The newest update for Borderlands on PC fixes a wide assortment of issues -- and some of them are so ridiculous, I don't even know what to say.

Take this one, for instance: "The 'Careful, he bites' achievement should now properly unlock when playing in French." Uh, what? Or how about "Opening the bank in the 'Mad Moxxi' DLC no longer prevents other players from moving." That is a thing that can actually happen?!

And finally, with the arrival of this new patch, we can no longer obtain multiple copies of the DLC. Bummer.

Download it here. Full patch notes are located after the break.

Addressed issues:

  • Invalid weapons or items can no longer be loaded into the game
  • Brick's Centurion class mods now regenerate health correctly
  • Brick's Bombardier class mods now regenerate rockets correctly
  • Roland's Tactician class mods now regenerate shields correctly and display the correct bonus values
  • Roland's Rifleman class mods now apply damage increase to all machine guns
  • Certain powerful legendary item names should now be displayed in the appropriate color
  • Opening the bank in the Mad Moxxi DLC no longer prevents other players from moving
  • Multiple copies of DLC missions can no longer be obtained
  • Corrected some incorrect icons in the ammo vendor
  • Fixed a crash caused by killing the final boss while zoomed in with a scope
  • The "Careful, he bites" achievement should now properly unlock when playing in French
  • Added icons to the server browser that indicate which DLCs the server has installed
  • The server browser now displays the name of the DLC a server is playing instead of the plot mission
  • Adjusted scrolling in menu options in long server lists
  • Added a notification if a player attempts to continue a game saved in DLC that is no longer installed
  • Fixed DLC notification dialogs that were not closing properly
  • Alt-F4 no longer closes the game if it is not in focus

Balance adjustments:

  • Chests in New Haven have been adjusted to contain more appropriate loot
  • The duration of daze effects has been reduced to 6 seconds, and the amount by which it decreases the speed of enemies and their projectiles has been reduced
  • Damage from shock elemental effects has been increased
  • Repeater pistol damage has been slightly increased, accuracy slightly decreased
  • Sniper Rifle critical hit bonus has been increased

On the PS3 it also freezes the other player when someone opens the bank in Moxxi's. It's weird, and doesn't make sense how it got in there, but hey it allowed one of us to grab a drink while the other sorted out their weapons!

'It's weird, and doesn't make sense how it got in there'

Sorry, but that was begging for a 'That's what she said.'

LOL When I was playing Warhammer Online, one of the patches said "Dwarf Players that die in Chapter 1 will no longer respawn in the Orc Warcamp", and "Dark Elf Players that do blah blah blah won't permanently become a chicken" XD like literally, chickens :D

Yea: the PC version sucks ass. Especially with awful online play/Gamespy support, and freaking console-ported giant menus.

You know lots of games have elements in splitscreen that freeze the game for the second player while the first player goes about their business. You clearly don't play that much splitscreen or you'd know that. Hell, I barely play any and I've run into it in a number of games.

Yeah, Borderlands was certainly a buggy game. But it was just so much damn fun that you got over it and had a good time.

Why would ALT-F4 kill a program that isn't in the RAM cache?

This is my fav: "Fixed a crash caused by killing the final boss while zoomed in with a scope"

Wow just wow, I mean missing a bug is one thing but sweet geezus did no one EVER use a scoped weapon on the final boss when they were testing?

Gearbox has clearly not given a shit about the PC version of this game since its inception. If they had, it wouldn't have launched with the most fundamental aspect of its gameplay -playing cooperatively online- broken. And yet it did. In fact, they didn't end up fixing that particular game-breaking issue for, what, six months?

The fact that this game still has ridiculous bugs is of absolutely no surprise. Gearbox just never gave a damn.

Props to Gearbox. They at least fixed some (I have to say weird) bugs. While other developers left gamers in the cold. Fallout 3 for instance crashed and glitched so many goddamn times it made me angry. I couldn't even count the amount if time I spend trying to pry my ass out of a rock in that game. But I still kept playing like so many others. Or being attacked by invisible God-like creatures which I could only see but not hurt in VATS. Those bugs weren't hilarious, they were game breaking.

You have to understand certain bugs don't show up while playing normally like everybody would. Sometimes the conditions are almost too insane even for testers to find a certain bug. I'm sure we can all think of a few games in the past that had weird shit in them. Borderlands is no different. The fact that everybody find the list of this patch hilarious is because it's the first time they even read about these bugs. I've spend a hell of a lot of time with this game and I haven't seen any of these things. Only some minor ones on the PS3 side. But they're fixed too now.

@Magnalon
They've actually made it for PC first and ported it to the consoles. Which I do agree makes it even weirder. They clearly made this with consoles in mind.

Yeah, I looted New Haven countless times....
It'll be hard to apply this patch. Too bad everyone else I play with uses Steam, so I have no choice....

Oh goodie, so they removed chest farming in New Haven and forgot to replace it with an actual useful way to get weapons. And still no native FOV support. Augh, this game was my biggest regret of 09' =/.

Lol. Now if only they would add in a Split screen or dual screen option things will be all set. :P Seriously. I know most people don't play with others on a pc. But when you have a pc with like 4 controllers, split screen would be sick on alot of pc exclusives.
