Borderlands getting 'General Knoxx' DLC this week photo

Well this is unexpected. The third and perhaps most promising add-on pack for Borderlands, "The Secret Armory of General Knoxx," will be available for download as of tomorrow -- if you own an Xbox 360.

The $10 piece of downloadable content, for whatever reason, won't be out on PlayStation Network or PC until Thursday of this week. Hamza's super recent preview contains the important details, in case you missed it; I wish all games came out a week after we got our hands on them.

I thought I was done with Borderlands for good, but hearing about one of the new enemy types -- the little people who ride Skags -- was enough to change my mind right then and there. Anyone else feeling this add-on?

Now that I know they are releasing these at retail I will wait for that. Never bought the originals and I prefer hard copies, so it just makes sense for me.

This one looks good!

@Renegade - I too share your money woes. This is terrible news indeed. I was hoping for a mid-march release so I could roll this into my birthday gift giving fiasco. Oh well.

"New" enemy type? The pre-existing raiders that ride the pre-existing skags? That was like 90% of the game's enemies! ;D

Waiting on reviews for this one, but Borderlands DLC may just be the new Sonic cylce: the first two add-ons were god awful.

whoa whoa WHOA that was fast. I may wait on this a few weeks until the date I thought it would be released around, as my usual Borderlands teammate has a very pregnant wife to take care of.

Thursday is the day that the Playstation store updates, so that is the reason for the PS3 delay. Gearbox doesn't hate you, PS3 fans.

It's the combining of midget raiders and skags that's so important. On their own, they are both kind of "bleh." When combined, it's the greatest thing ever (for today).

It seems substantial enough to warrant a purchase for me. ESPECIALLY with the new class of weapons. If only they would add that fucking chest with this instead of buying Moxxi.

And to think, it would be my second piece of DLC I've ever purchased.

Besides, Skag Raiders aren't the only new enemies. There are, like, 30 new enemy types.

Does anybody know if you have to complete your current playthrough to be able to play the DLC?

I'll wait to see if it gets bundled.
Don't have Mad Moxxi yet either.

Definitely going to pick this up, if for the level cap increase alone. Content sounds good enough, but I thought that about the first two, as well.

Does anyone know if the bundle will include all the dlc on the game disc like fallout?
DinnertimeNinja's Avatar - Comment posted on 02/22/2010 16:47

@Pokey,

The descriptor pages for the bundle only list the Zombie Island and Mad Moxxie expansions, but since the disc bundle release was delayed until April 1st, I'm guessing they might end up throwing in this one as well. (Maybe $25 for all three on disc?)

The bundle was originally supposed to come out this week, but instead we get more DLC. It wouldn't make any sense for this latest DLC to NOT be on the disc over a month later.

Well, looks like my initial playthrough of Mass Effect 1 needs to wait. I'm always itching to return to Pandora (Though I should finish the Madd Moxxi again for that extra skill point).

@Mr Brightside - I wondered the same thing. I guess it's a moot point for me since I am finally at the end of the main campaign and should have it finished by the time I pick this up.

The only question left for me though is whether or not you have to be level 50 to survive. I'm hoping it caters to your level like zombie island does since my Hunter's only at level 35.

Well, that was quick. Too bad it'll have to wait until I'm done defeating the Collectors and conquering Rapture again. Still, looks extremely promising. gearbox has been really good about their DLC.

Question here! what is going to happen with the exp you got after you reached level 50? are we going to instantly level up, or we have to get the exp again to level up untli level 61?

This a finally a good move in the right direction. The first two dlc packs were way too short and could be finished under 2 hours even with the side quests

The first two pieces of DLC did not strike me as anything special in terms of what Gearbox was capable of releasing... Purchased Zombies, skipped Mox. I still enjoy Borderlands as a couch co-op game, it is fairly hard to beat in that category considering the death of split screen that has been plaguing gaming. I just really wish they would give us a storage box in this new content. Don't make me dl the Mox Gearbox.

Damn that was fast. I'll definitely be picking it up. My coop group has been trying to push through the Moxxi stuff, but that has ended in total failure. Guess we can try to forget that for now and move on to this. :D
