Gearbox's Borderlands is going to be hit with a minor delay on PC while Gearbox make some tweaks and improvements. Original scheduled for release on October 20, the excellent-looking RPG/shooter hybrid has been pushed back a week. Don't worry, it's not yet another 2010 victim.
"We're optimizing the PC version which takes a few days longer than expected," says 2K's Charlie Sinhaseni.
The console versions are unaffected, meaning Xbox 360 and PS3 fans can get their hands on the game when expected. Of course, they will have the "inferior" version because anybody who owns a console is apparently a petulant child and is stupid for preferring controllers to mice & keyboards. Apparently.

@PL: ...except they don't work half the time :P
-------------------
Depends if you're comparing to a PS3 or an Xbox 360 - bam!
The mouse/keyboard argument is bullshit to begin with because everyone on a PC has them and everyone (who isn't playing on a kb/mouse enabled UT3 server) playing on console doesn't. There's absolutely no relative advantage over the controller and from my personal playtesting (that'd be UT on Windows and Linux vs UT on PS3 with a controller) there's not much difference in results. Try it for yourself.
I don't want to start a war here but all of the cross platform FPS games have pretty much proven that K/M is more accurate for aiming. That doesn't make it harder to use by any means, but it's true.
I personally detest multiplayer FPS games on console because most current-gen FPS have a feature called "aim assist" enabled. This may just be a personal gripe but I prefer an unadulterated environment to compete in.
Now a game like Borderlands, were players are in a co-op environment, works with both PC and consoles.
"The mouse/keyboard argument is bullshit to begin with because everyone on a PC has them and everyone (who isn't playing on a kb/mouse enabled UT3 server) playing on console doesn't."
So... how does that mean the argument is bullshit? Why would you not want to play on the system that has better controls? What if an Xbox had only one big red button and the analog stick only moved up, not left right or down. Would you still use your argument? "Well, everybody with an xbox has that shitty controller, so it's OK!" Of course not. Because that's not a real argument.
Look, I get it.. some of you feel "comfortable" with your little controller in your hand. That's fine with me. I don't care if you still feel "comfortable" drinking your mothers breast milk. But, don't pretend like something can't be better then something else, just because you're comfortable with the inferior one.
Am I starting a flame war, yet? Am I succeeding? I can keep going... I really can.
I'm betting nobody will see the humor in this. Meh, oh well.
...because we all know the real reason PC releases are pushed back for trivial reasons/time frames these days is because they believe die-hard 360/PS3 owners are going to pirate it on their PCs rather than buy it on their format of choice.
Ding ding ding! C'mon, does anyone really believe developers any more when they push back PC versions of their games (and it's always the PC versions, hmm...) by just a few days, and say they need that time to "polish" their games?
Show me this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPfaQJuWGvU&feature=fvw on a console. Just that kind of movement. I'm curious here.
But come on guys, it's a SIX DAY delay. No-one will die because of it.
Twitch FPS, keyboard & mouse superior, controller inferior.
However slower paced first person perpective games like Fallout 3 (Not sure how similar it is, but always comes to mind when Borderlands is mentioned) work fine with controller and is definitely my preference.
Anyway, about the actual article. I was surprised to hear that all versions of the game were coming out on the same day. Usually PC is delayed a week or two. Oh well. I'm not broken up about it.
The truth hurts, doesn't it? Calling people stupid and whatnot. Did you even read my post? PC SUPPORTS CONTROLLERS. 360 controllers, PS2 controllers, PS3 controllers. I can "imagine" other reasons PC's are superior that are a bit more tangible than Jesus and unicorns as well. For example, can you type out a college essay on a 360? Can you edit videos with Adobe Premiere on a PS3? Can you keep a 2 TB porn collection on 360's 120gb HDD? If 360's DVD drive breaks, can you easily replace it for $20? Can I hook my iPhone up to a PS3 and add music to it? Can I get free updates for TF2 and L4D on 360? Face it, PC can do everything consoles can do, except better. Console has more games, that's it. PC is a tool for living.
Also @ Phantom Spaceman - PC works all the time, if it doesn't work it's because the person trying to make it work doesn't know what they're doing. Don't blame the PC for being too advanced for simpler minds to comprehend.
The fact is, I have limited free time, and better things to do with it than figure out the source of some obscure CTD, like actually playing videogames, for instance.
PCs and consoles each have their own merits. Stop being dicks about it.
As for controllers and mice, I'm pretty sure it's your comments about mice that make you look like an idiot, rather than your preferrence for the controllers. Mice making FPS games too easy was a great one... it just shows you really have no idea what you're talking about, and in those cases a journalist should err on the side of shutting the fuck up, usually.
Oh come now everyone knows the PC is a fine lady that yells a lot and then you get the Marriage Counselor Microsoft but all he does is convince her she needs more video drivers.
It's nice to finally see a respected games journo call it like it is!
Damn it, its already too long until the 20th! I cant be waiting longer!
Anyway, GREAT trolling Jim. Far too many people have taken the bait here.
I don't want you to suck the PC's cock, I want you to stop acting like it has a small dick because someone told you it did, when you have never seen it yourself.
I understand his style, I just think it's pretty crappy for a news site. Also, his opinions on a lot of things, PC gaming a particular one for me, are very, very uninformed, yet he presents them as an authority on the matter.
Imagine if Tom Brokaw, an authority in politics and world affairs, said on the Nightly News that Obama sucks because he can't make good speeches. Wrong, opinionated and uninformed, yet presented as news by an authority on the matter.
Forgive me for taking this site the least bit seriously as a source for gaming journalism I guess.
We do enough pointing and clicking on Windows etc at work, when we want to play a game, it's way more FUN to use a controller, not better, not worse, simply more fun.
I spent a couple of years of my life playing Counter Strike on the PC, it was awesome, but you know the one thing that let it down? Point and click on someone's head with a fucking mouse. My buddy even turned his reticule into a mouse pointer to poke fun at the whole thing.
Then along came online console games and aiming became aiming rather than simply clicking.
Sexualchocolate says: "if you need a mouse you're a fucking fag"
Nuff said.
And controllers are moving a center camera point with a stick and clicking a button. If you think of it like that every control method sucks except VR, which doesn't even exist yet.
And FUN is subjective... even when you type it with capital letters.
I enjoy controllers way more. Oh dear. I deserve death.
It's just like saying you prefer McDonalds hamburgers to a hamburger made on the grill from fresh butcher's meat... it makes no sense. If you don't play PC games that often and aren't used to it, that explains it somewhat.
It's not like I have never used dual-analog, unfortunately I am forced to with certain exclusives... it's incredibly inferior. I don't view it as a style choice or preference, one is accurate, smooth and responds to motion, the other is inaccurate, requires aim-assist and you move with a thumbstick.
It's just not a negotiable point for me, sorry.
Have you ever aimed a real gun? Shot anything for real? In real life? - Take this from someone who has a pretty good skeet shooting record, talking 90% so far this year, Analogue sticks are way closer to real aiming than a mouse.
Not even going to go into the whole wasd movement thing. Jeeeeeeeez.
But don't get me wrong, I'd love a mouse for Strategy games or even for some RPG's. (why don't Sony include the whole mouse keyboard thing in games?!) just not for shooters.
