Should i be happy? Sad? Angry? Whacking off?
Tell me you dried prunes!
It's a very clever move, DLC sales take a massive hit as time goes on, encouraging gamers to buy it all now likely means more money for the publisher. Still a good deal for the consumer as well, so it's kind of silly to complain about it. Especially if it means the publisher doesn't try some other, less friendly scheme.
Hopefully Gearbox can shed a little more light on what we can expect before or around launch.
Honestly though, I'd feel like a sucker buying any games new or right away anymore. Too much withheld content, on disc nonsense, and other foolishness. If I ever play this (unlikely since I hated the first one), I'd consider a discounted GOTY edition. It's not as thought I don't have a library packed with unplayed games I could enjoy in the meantime. Hell, I wanted Batman AC, but with that Catwoman Code fiasco and a ton of DLC in the works I felt it best not to get it right away.
In my blog I tallied the total cost of Mass Effect 2; never again, man, no game is worth that kind of scratch.
Im in the same boat. If I knew all 4 of those DLCs would actually be worth $10 each, then paying $30 would be a no brainer. But Im not paying $10 for another Underdome, even if I like Gearbox. I Much rather end up paying $40 by the end of the year than risk getting burned.
For the "season pass". Not a bad idea if you think you will end up really liking the game.
on the otherhand if u like borderlands u saved ten bucks so tht how it goes
A) You don't know if the DLC will be any good
B) You don't know if the game itself will be good (Studios with pedigree can fail too)
C) You can probably buy a complete edition with everything on disc for the same 60$ or even less if you wait long enough
Thanks but no thanks.
Borderlands 2 I think will be different. It has a big enough community backing it and the original had good DLC (Moxxi was okay in my opinion). I trust Gearbox.
Otherwise, if the season passes remain available after all of the packs have released, so people have the option to get the discount without taking a gamble, then it's better than nothing.
I'm officially burnt out on DLC. Just give me a game and be done with it. Go make some new stuff instead of coasting off of your previous work.
Not saying they will do it again, and season passes are a bad idea usually for the consumer (hello SR3).
For the industry DLC is a good thing, as it lets the artists get back to work rather quickly, and the coders and testers after the core game goes gold. Better than being laid off. Developers are honest for the most part about the bright line between release development and DLC development.
