meh, Im gonna play it safe and wait for a game of the year edition. I am kinda done with day one collector editions, in most cases it will not be the ultimate version of the product eight months down the road, and even if it is, it will be a hell of a lot cheaper.
i will wait for GOTY edition.

as for me i would prefer simply artbook(with making of notes) and soundtrack - that's why i usually buy those collectors editions since i don't really care for figurines.

Any word on whether I'll be able to simply insert the Key into Steam and go with these editions? I do all my non-Blizzard PC gaming through Steam these days, so I'd like to keep them all in one place if possible.
The scaled chest sounds tempting, but I'm waiting for some real-life photos of it to see if it's worth it, the one in that photo seems like the 3d model photoshopped in.

ME3 made that mistake, but everybody was too busy pissing themselves over the ending to notice. The gun you get in the From Ashes DLC is hilariously OP.

John, $150 is around £95. Depending on the exchange rate. My guess will be 90 some places 100 at others like usual.
As much as I am tempted as hell to jump on this and I am...... developers have conditioned me to wait for GOTY editions.

Will the loot box open up the way it does in-game? Cuz that would be awesome. If not, I hope it's big enough to hold my .357. Maybe I'll paint it some crazy colors so it fits the borderlands theme.

actually mechromancer is included and will be dlc for non-preorders but still, I think that's a great idea.
Unlike most people here, I am not going to wait for the GOTY. I had the GOTY edition of Borderlands 1, but I barely played any of the DLC content. By the time I completed the campaign, I was pretty much done with it.
The collectors editions look on par with all collectors editions out there. "Kind of awesome, but ultimately ludicrous." I wish there was a picture, but nothing other than the bubblehead sounds original enough.

I can get mechromancer from pre-ordering which is good as that's my main interest.

The art book is just a booklet which is always disappointing.
The stickers would be cool if 2 out of the 4 weren't logos for the companies.
Digital comic is pointless as it will be online 2 hours after this is released.

that loot chest is pretty rad. but i just dont care for this garbage anymore. last "limited" edition i got was the gta 4 version, cause the lock box was nice. and was going to get a RDR limited, but just couldnt bother to pay that for junk i wont ever use. except the cards.
I have never spent over $100 on a Limited Edition before, but I love Borderlands so much, I HAVE to get the Ultimate Loot Chest.
Neither of those editions look "worth it" in terms of material value, but Gearbox is awesome so I dont mind throwing some more money at them.

Those of you considering this: Are you really going to pay $100-$150 for a game that you know will have DLC that you will also pay for down the road? Is any game really worth upwards of $200?

i have literally never bought some crazy bonus special edition whatever of any game. and i know they will prolly do some dlc down the line, but if they keep the dlc closer to full expansions rather than tacked on bullshit (flips a coin), i think it will be fine.
also, a borderlands rare loot chest and marcus kincaid bobble head. i don't really mind toys/statues based on an IP as long as they are good toys/statues. it's not like it's a gi-joe version of mordecai.

Speaking of eventual DLC, will they fix the leveling and difficulty selection a bit better so that you can play the DLC without having to choose between going into the DLC hilariously overpowered or coming out hilariously overpowered for your next run of the main game?
Character and weapon level was by (way too far) the most important factor in difficulty, and Borderlands 1's run-through difficulties simply weren't designed with DLC leveling in mind. Stuff like Dr. Ned was fun for the first half if you were underpowered, but then you got used to the rushes and caught up to the difficulty curve where it just became boring, and then you were overpowered enough to one-shot stuff when you went back to the main game.

I just want this game so to see if Anthony Burch is up to snuff. If not, all his past comments are automatically invalidated (nah, I'm secretly hoping this is good or at least interesting from a narrative perspective so as to show that more people can join the industry through the press).

@Sofik88: I understand that. But you see, when the financials come out to the major stockholders, all they see is that's the price you're willing to pay for the game. So they can look at raising prices in the future. They don't even see that it came with all the extra junk, they just see that you spent $150 on a game.
I like collector's editions, I buy them because I like having extra things, I like to collect random stuff like this. I'm not doing it to prove anything, I'm not 'paying 150 dollars for one game' and I doubt I'll touch the DLC down the road unless it's superior to the original Borderlands DLC.
If I want to spend money on video game stuff, then I will. If you don't want to, then don't. But stop acting like you're somehow a better person because of it.
