BOOM! Headshot! Gamer gear that packs a five pound punch photo

If taking a beating online isn't enough to fulfill your violent needs, then TN Games has a variety of gamer gear to punish you in person. The 3rd Space Gaming Vest bundle kits come in black, camouflage and pink, and each comes with an air compressor, USB cable, power supply and two free PC games. With one of the included titles being the outdated but fun Call of Duty 2, its $140 reduced price tag isn't too unreasonable.

Gamers wearing the FPS Vest for compatible games should expect to feel the impact-generating device from eight different regions on the body, with a helmet coming out in 2009 that offers three additional pain zones. When you're hit in the game, one of the eight compressed air pockets triggers a pneumatic air release for five pounds of impact force. Grim has played it and confirms that it doesn't disappoint.

Eleven critical points is more than I was expecting the products to deliver, although I would imagine the blows to the head in the same area would grow more annoying than painful before too long. On the other hand, I was expecting to see more games currently compatible, but time should fix that. Not to mention the talented gamers out there can create game mods using the gear with the 3rd Space software.

If you want to demo their product, they say you should try to compare the experience to being struck by a roll of pennies dropped from a distance of six inches. It's commendable to see some advancements beyond the ubiquitous rumble controllers, although for now I doubt most people are willing to suspend reality past the point of waving a Wiimote around. We'll keep an eye on the price as well as the helmet's release date and keep you updated. Until then, we'll file this under the "Idiot asking for a hilarious lawsuit" file.

I'll spare you an official Game Debate to the Death for this topic, since it wouldn't send the right message to the media about this product, but what do you think? Will you buy it? Or would you in the near future?

Some idiots are going to strap this thing to places it ought not be strapped and wind up on the local news. I've got $5 saying head injury shows up before crushed testicles (if only because of the shame from the latter).

Sweet deal, might be cool to try out but on a daily basis who knows.

This equpped with that SOM Jim talked about could make for some great raping Hentai game experiences.

(tying to be funny and I do not mean to make fun at people who have been raped)

This thing looks kind of cool, but I can imagine it being more than a little uncomfortable. Not bad in games like Call of Duty where you don't take a lot of bullets so the pain isn't constant, but if this device eventually becomes compatible with something like Unreal Tournament 3 or something...that will just be too painful.

This is hilarious... I actually began writing a comedy sketch about this back in '99. Ah, reality, you have no idea how funny you are. Is anyone actually going to subject themselves to this?

Wow I see this possibly being useful for the troop simulation game, but otherwise it could be dangerous for someone who doesn't use it the right way. I realize that a six inch drop of a roll of pennies doesn't involve a great amount of force but all it takes is for a kid to strap it to his baby brother and it could perhaps cause real harm.

i've never been into any type of gadgets such as this but this vest seems like a pretty cool accessory.if more games make use of this i'll really consider getting one,but only if it's compatible with the 360 and PS3 since i no longer play PC games.

I'll file this under the "things I would totally buy if I had $140 and nothing better to spend it on" file.

I remember the rumble vest for Sega. When I was a kid I really didn't know what it did, but I remember freaking out when I was using it at Toys R Us. I was playing Mortal Kombat 2, and I lost. When it said finish him I almost pissed myself to get it off.

The rumble vest kicked ass, I had one when I was a kid, it was nothing more than a subwoofer attached to your back, but it was still fun for about 30 minutes. Then you realize you just want to play the game not feel it.

Although this could provide important information on enemy whereabout to those without surround sound speakers... DO NOT WANT.

When I was young before the rumble packs came out my friends and I would set up Mario Kart and we would have one person playing while the other person would beat the person playing on the back with a pillow any time they crashed or were hit by a destructive item.

I turn off the ye olde controller rumble feature in games that have it, so this is obviously not of much interest to me. Heck, it reminds me of those cheesy ads I used to see for the "Aura Inter-Act" back in the day...

Ha ha ha, I remember this thing at PAX. Honestly though, a helmet? I mean, your torso is generally pretty resilient, but I don't wanna get thwacked in the head everytime some bitch ass sniper takes me down. I just have to wonder if this would make you better at a game simply because you would want to avoid getting shot so much more now.

HOW DARE YOU SIR!

Best Invention Ever. Made that lava chase in SNES Aladdin that much more awesome.

Now if only they'd included some type of heating pad that would give you second-degree burns if the lava got too close...
