Boom Blox to go multiplatform? It's a possibility, cheeky fella photo

The critically acclaimed Boom Blox is seen as one of the few creative triumphs on the Wii, even if it didn't bring down the house in terms of sales. EA CEO (and international sex symbol) John Riccitiello was caught speaking to MTV about the game finally reaching 450,000 sales. Smart enough.

Among other things, Riccitiello also talked about the possibility of a sequel, and naturally praised the game. When asked about Boom Blox appearing on other systems, the silver-haired Lothario had this to say:

We haven’t made announcements on that front. Frankly, its original design was all about the control of the [Wii] wand. But there are other ways to implement that. It is a hugely innovative product. I expect you’ll see it on other platforms in time.

That would certainly help sales, but if the Wiimote is the focus of the game, would it work on your Xbox 360 or a PS3's DualShock 3? How the HELL should I know? When it comes to getting something multiplatform though, you know Electronic Arts will find a way.

What only 450.000? I thought it was more.

Anyways. I can very much see the game on 360 or PS3, but I doubt, that I would like it on those consoles either.

While I love the Wii, the controls are still a silly gimmick. I can see this working and still being fun on other systems by pressing a button and utilizing a power gauge meter. I think it could even be better on the 360 if they release the editors restrictions which I can only assume were limits of the Wii hardware.

If the game were given a button pressing, power gauge feature, it may lose part of it's charm. I thought that, while some might consider the controls gimmicky, it fits with the game. I'm throwing stuff at towers made of blocks and other stuff, or trying to pull the blocks out Jenga style. If this were released without the waggle-controls, I probably would have passed on it.

It seems only fitting for Wii though...

Agreed with zombiekiller13.
Without the motion controls, it goes from "OMFG THIS IS FUN BOOM!!!!11!" to "wow. look at those blocks fall down." Love this game by the way.

@Heretic:
Not for me. I just want good games to be on systems better than the Wii. Therefore, unless a game is a must-have, I don't purchase anything for my Wii. Fatal Frame IV and mad world should be on all 3 current systems, IMO.

I love Boom Blox, but I can't imagine it being fun with a traditional controller. Even if they get this to work, I think it'll be missing something.
