Earlier today, we revealed some screenshots and details on Steven Spielberg's Boom Blox for the Wii. Now we have the debut trailer showing off the gameplay and Wiimote actions.

Now that I'm seeing this in action, it's reminding me more of LittleBigPlanet with the way everything reacts to each other. Looks like it could be a fun casual game in the already flooded casual game market the Wii has.

I couldn't help but laugh like a maniac watching the sheep and cows get blown away. Is anyone more/less interested now that you've seen it in action?

It's simple arithmetic.

Adorable + Explosions = Fun

I'll get this for my little brother and then hog the controller.

I have to say, I'm excited for this game. Yes, its another cute, on-the-surface simple, casual looking game. But you know what? I have no problem with "cute". I think it looks FUN. For one, this looks to be what Jenga Wii SHOULD have been. What I'm REALLY interested in, though, is the PHYSICS model behind the blocks. Especially checking out the debut showing of the game from last E3, and paying attention to the blocks in the debut trailer. The way the blocks move when moved, bouncing into and rebounding off of each other, spinning, flipping, or whatever...the physics look spot on from what has been shown so far. And to me, that's exciting. Because it WOULD showcase things that you could do with physics on the Wii that you really couldn't do on the other consoles, just because of the precision needed. Myself, I had actually had high hopes for Jenga, and was really let down by the way it slopppily turned out for one reason: I can't get my 5 year old twin girls to sit down and play a game like Jenga (real game) with me for 5 minutes, but give them a Wii-mote and they love it. :) Can't wait for the release of Boom Blox to see if it lives up to the promise in this trailer.

What does Spielberg have to do with this title anyway? Is he funding it? I don't see any creative ideas here at all.

@brainderailment

Actually, if you listen to Spielberg talk about this game, it sounds like it was pretty much his basic idea from the beginning. I'm sure he had EA help in fleshing it out, but it sounds like it IS his idea for a game that they used. And I'm personally quite intriguied by it. :)
