I think I need to sit down. You see, I am absolutely obsessed with the pinball “Crush” games on the TurboGrafx-16. In fact, I play them each and every night before I go to bed. They are kind of like my nerdy versions of cookies and warm milk.
So you can imagine my excitement when Hudson announced this morning that it would be releasing a brand new version of Alien Crush for Nintendo’s WiiWare download service, complete with Wii-style controls and a five player Wi-Fi score challenge.
Since I am still running around the office with my arms flailing (only taking a quick break to type this) I haven’t really been able to let the other big news sink in: Not only is Hudson releasing Alien Crush, the company announced a planned 10 game lineup for the download service. That’s a lot of support! While Star Soldier R has already been released and Tetris and Bomberman have already been announced, Hudson also revealed an original title called Blue Oasis that let’s you build an aquarium and raise fish. Damn, Hudson, you are ready to Friday, aren’t you?
All of this great news only concerns Japan for now, but global releases seem likely once WiiWare is available for everyone.
What do you think? Are you impressed or surprised by Hudson’s early faith in WiiWare? Will you actually fall on the ground dead like me if the superior Devil’s Crush is every updated with pretty new graphics?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Anyways, who here thinks they need to bring back Pinbot? They will remake any other classic game so why not Pinbot?
As long as they don't make the Wii controls lame, it should be good. I also just happen to have my TurboExpress next to my keyboard with Devil's Crush playing right now :-D.
*is dead*
I cannot seriously believe they are going ahead with this initiative on a half gig memory space... it's like they're in 1994 or something.
I think they have brought back Pinbot. Check out Williams Pinball Classics for the Wii.
so.... no difference.
I've never played Devil's Crush, but I do have 600 Wii points handy. Might drop the fake digital money to see what I seem to be missing.
WiiWare is looking like so much win right now, having a developer like Hudson throwing their full weight behind it can only make things better.
However, I'll be making a tough decision between this and Metroid Prime Pinball.
I hate to say it (sorry, Devil's Crush), but Metroid Prime Pinball is the best pinball game I have ever played. You have to get that.
BUY DEVIL'S CRUSH! RIGHT NOW! MOVE IT, SOLDIER! :)
YES YES YES OMG AWESOME I LOVE YOU HUDSON!!!
I have an obscene number of hours logged with both Alien Crush and Devil's Crush on the VC. This is AMAZING news. I'm just praying they don't screw up the physics.
I'm down, this looks pretty sweet. Or, dare I say, swiit? Oh yes, I dare.
Yeah, I was going to mention that. He didn't really give us the specifics, but he did hint that the Crush series was going to make a grand return.
I am so happy. :)
But this is the first game / application I've heard aobut that actually makes me think I'd turn on my Wii for something other than Virtual Console or Arcade Light Gun ports.
I will be buying this fo shizzle.
I hope the physics are improved as well. On the TG16 version I can literally play 'till I can't stand it anymore. Play enough and the ball gets pretty predictable.
