In the before time, the long-long ago, there existed an Xbox Live that did not have Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4 on it. Yes, I know I speak heresy but it is true, I remember it! You remember it to, if you cast your mind back to long suppressed ages. In this bleak and untamed prehistoric realm, we played other games online. Games like Bomberman LIVE. Remember that? Hudson remembers, and has announced a tournament for explosion fanatics everywhere (the ones who aren't Bin Laden's chums).

The "Bomberman LIVE New Year's Bash Tournament & Sweepstakes" will be for US gamers (boo) who can compete for the grand prize of an almighty 100,000 Microsoft Points. Think of the amount of times you can download Space Giraffe with all that abstract moolah! One time. You can download it one time. Here's how we throw down:

In the "Bomberman LIVE New Year's Bash Tournament," players will drop
bombs with reckless abandon.  They will attempt to get the most frags
on the "Weekly Ranked Friendly Fire Leaderboard" which records
performance in the new "Friendly Fire" game mode on any map.

The games shall begin at 5:00 a.m. PST on January 6, 2008 and end at 8:59 a.m. PST on
January 13, 2008. The one catch is that you need the Bomb Up Pack 3 add-on downloaded to your HD, but who cares? It's a great little game, right? Hit the jump for the dirty press release.

Explain to me the logic of making this US only? Aren't we all basically paying Microsoft the same amount of money for our live accounts and games? Dammit, games in Australia cost more off the shelf. So why can't we participate? I argue this point, knowing full well that I wouldn't make it past round one, but it's the principle.

eh... this may give me the incentive to download bomberlive over the 90,000 other things i want off of xbla... though, i must admit, i'd rather have 2nd place... then i could sell off my pro, get a hefty sum of cash and get more than enough gp to last me awhile... and a larger harddrive to store it all :D

What's up with it being US only? It can't be that hard to transfer 100K points to a Euro account.

Tell Grim about this. I want to see a Destructoid representative win this. And then he can gift us some of his points.

US only.
This makes Manjimaru and Bonks angry (the characters my friend and I play as).
Then again still haven't bought a RROD360 yet.

Oh shit. I would love that much money to toss around on Live. Shame there's so man people who completely own at the game, making my regular skills woefully inadequate.
