Bob Marley 'greatest hits' album coming to Rock Band photo

When Rock Band 3 hits shelves on October 26, Bob Marley & The Wailer's "Get Up, Stand Up" will be playable on the disc. But it won't be Marley's Rock Band debut -- according to a commercial spotted on VH1 Classic, the musician's greatest hits record, Legend, will be available for download on September 21.

While Harmonix and MTV Games have yet to officially announce the downloadable content, these are the tracks that appear on the CD release of the album, and (in theory) should be available for download by month's end:

    •    "Is This Love
    •    "No Woman, No Cry"
    •    "Could You Be Loved"
    •    "Three Little Birds
    •    "Buffalo Soldier"
    •    "Stir It Up"
    •    "One Love/People Get Ready"
    •    "I Shot the Sheriff"
    •    "Waiting in Vain"
    •    "Redemption Song"
    •    "Satisfy My Soul"
    •    "Exodus"
    •    "Jamming"

No word on pricing, but you can expect individual tracks to run you $1.99/160 MS Points/200 Wii Points, and the pack will probably save you a few bucks. Based on the comments I had made about Marley's "Get Up, Stand Up" appearing in Rock Band 3, I have a feeling a ton of people are going to be thrilled about this content. Well… are you?

I can hardly say that I like Bob Marley, but I'm pretty partial to Buffalo Soldier.

Considering Harmonix has already confirmed that Legacy DLC isn't forwards compatible to have this album available, but incomplete because Get Up, Stand Up is in RB3 is quite bullshit.

On the one hand if you're not getting RB3 you have an incomplete album. On the other if you are getting RB3 it's almost the same because Get Up, Stand Up will be the only song that utilizes all the RB3 features.

Unless it's been reported wrong and someone can clear things up this DLC is, in it's own way, really disappointing.

Now assuming it is forwards compatible with the new RB3 features and this is business as usual? I'm not too big on Marley but I'll be damned if I let I Shot the Sheriff slip by.

"Legacy DLC isn't forwards compatible"

Wait What?

So all the DLC I have for RB 1 WON'T be transferable to RB3? (I skipped 2) Because that's quite a deal breaker for me, but have quite a huge collection of DLC tracks.

Sure the new features like pro-mode won't be supported in old DLC but i thought it was all fully transferable to be played old school at least.

Hmmmm, God i hope you're wrong (Se)Xzy...

It is transferable, just no pro mode.

You skipped RB2 though? How many songs do you have?

Phew, thank fuck for that! In my RB1 playlist, i can't recall, but i've bought a good 50+ songs! so whatever the start amount is plus like 50. Bought a couple of £20 PSN vouchers and spanked them all on tracks. plus the odd impulse buys over the years.

Don't forget, Rock Band 2 was REALLY late to release here in the UK, so even now it's still quite pricey - if you can find a copy that is! it's like nowhere stocks the solus game without the instruments and online it's a bit pricy, specially considering that 3 is out soon!

I've got a couple of GH WT guitars and the RB drums, but i'm so getting a pro-guitar for RB3. Even mrs SC said she would like to try it out! just hope it still works (normal mode) with the WT guitars, I'm pretty sure RB1 drums will work with it, right?

I'm assuming i may need 2 export codes, one to send them from RB1 to RB2 and another to send them from RB2 to RB3. But hopefully i can just send them all direct from RB1 to RB3.

Fingers crossed.

@SC
You just need the one code, it just takes it from RB1 to your hard drive. Again, no sweet RB3 features on those tracks, but they'll work in 3. There are two or three tracks that you lose from RB1 due to rights issues, though. I feel like it's Paranoid and Run To The Hills.

Yikes! Yeah, I should've been clearer.

Legacy DLC won't be getting any upgrades. So all those songs with keyboard won't get any upgrades and etc. Sorry 'bout that.

Except Pro Drums. All DLC has Pro Drums.

Wikipedia says it's Paranoid, Run to the Hills, and Enter Sandman that don't transfer.

Also, meh on Bob Marley, I see one or two I might pick up, such as I Shot the Sheriff. I continue hoping that the last few weeks are kinda lame so that the DLC released after RB3 launch (and thus with awesome sexy RB3 features) is freakin amazingasmic.

On their own, yeah, I'm thrilled. But for playing in Rock Band... I'm not so sure.
Still, I'll pick up No Woman No Cry. That song, to me, is way too good to miss it :D

@Xzyliac You never know. While EVERYTHING I've heard from Harmonix is that DLC prior to RB3 will not have Rock Band 3 features (save for Pro Drums), I'm optimistic there may be some exceptions. If the file sizes for the DLC is larger than average, then there may be hope.

I probably won't get any clear answer from MTV or Harmonix on this regarding whether or not Legend WILL feature charting for keyboards, etc. But I do know that it was mentioned publicly that they are considering updating some older tracks to support keyboards, starting with a few and working from there. Nothing was official, and it all seems very "yeah, that sounds cool and we've discussed it," but who knows.

I think some of you guys know my thoughts on Marley (not a fan), so I'll be happy to skip this entire pack. Still, for folks picking it up, it's a bit disheartening to think that tracks with keyboards (of which there are a handful, from looking at the list) won't support them with RB3 out within the month you purchase the songs.

This reminds me of that Onion article about the frat boy saying how Bob Marley was great fuck music. Personally, I like Redemption Song and that's about it. Never got into his music but hey, enjoy it if it's your thing.

Just to clear it up, this dlc will NOT work in rb3's pro modes or support keyboard. They have stated they made a completely new file type that only works for rb3. Since the old file type can't hold keyboard and pro guitar. So this will not support any new features.

Yeah, this is Harmonix we're talking about. There could be something up those sleeves. I'm hoping at least for the sake of those who buy the DLC. :/

They won't do 13 tracks. The Iron Maiden: Flight 666 Live album had 14 and they cut out 2 of them (granted one was about the Devil and the other was 14 minutes long).

My current theory is that there's actually a lot of retrofitted DLC ready, replete with (at the very least) keyboards and harmonies where applicable; they're just waiting for rights to clear. There are far too many songs out there that are just begging for the extra-instrument treatment.

Keeping fingers crossed, and I definitely want most (if not all) of those songs.

Meh. I've said it before. Their music is completely repetitive and uninteresting. This won't be any fun to play, except for by people who like his music simply because MARIJUANA.

@ KingSigy

The No Doubt "singles" pack was 13 tracks...the rest of RHCP's "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" was 16 tracks to DL since 'Give It Away' was in RB2.

If you think songs from the Wailers are repetitive and boring then you haven't listened much to Bob Marley and The Wailers. While yes, their music is associated with pot smokers, they really do have some great mid-tempo songs that have some pretty slick guitar work. Hell, most reggae around today is from people trying to mimic The Wailers sound.

I feel sorry for people pushing aside good music just because "stoners love it."

The hilarity of someone with a potleaf as their avatar is enjoyable, but you're also completely right, their music is really good, and to say that people only like them because they do drugs is just flat out wrong.

Awesome stuff. I know some of the songs won't exactly be challenging on some instruments, but I don't play Rock Band for the challenge, anyway...I would rather play songs I actually like than some ball-breaking metal tune that just is there for difficulty purposes.

@ Dexter-

I realize I'm quite definitely in the minority here, but I don't smoke anything whatsoever and I love the album. My brother's the same way. In fact, I find it pretty funny that so many stoners make Marley's music out to be pot-centric, when most of the songs on this album at least have nothing to do with it. It was one thing about him, but everyone completely blows it out of proportion. Hopefully people won't have the misconception that if you don't smoke weed you won't "get" his music...I know I had that misconception before hearing it.
