Blur gets Twitter support photo

We've all been in that position. We've just come first place on a really grueling, frustrating track in the latest racing game, and we want to tell the world. But the computer is so far away and the phone is nowhere in sight. What do you do? Oh what do you do?

Fear no more, my friends, because Blur is integrating Twitter into the game itself, allowing you 140 characters of boasting glory and meaning you never have to leave the couch in order to show your friends how pathetic you are on a Friday night. So far, no details have been shared as to how this integration will manifest itself, but it's certainly a trendy move. Makes you wonder why nobody else thought of it.

Blur will be all about social networking. It will feature in-game parody networks like "Inner Tube" (a most hilarious car-themed take on Youtube) and players will be assaulted by pretend emails and texts from AI racers. The inclusion of Twitter takes this one step further, allowing players to truly muddle the line between reality and twisted vehicular fantasy.

That kind of freaks me out.

I like the idea behind this and all the other social stuff the are doing with the game, too bad the actual game looks incredibly generic and boring =/

Does anybody need or even want this? Moreso, who wants to read tweets like this?

Granted, I don't know who wants to read normal tweets anyway, since most are simple descriptions of where they are at the time.

"At a meeting. Girl next to me has ugly shirt"

"Taking a shit!"

"Wiping ass..."

If its not just descriptions of nothing-special-time, it's reply Tweets, which often make no sense without looking into it deeply.

"@ThatGuy, The patridge? No?
@Someone, The pidgeon has no plans, duh"

...Twitter. It's there.

Everything should have twitter support, to the point that the network is filled with auto-messages and useless stuff, and people realize that it was retarded to begin using it on the first place.

That's rather interesting, I'd like to see how this turns out.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
