I've loved playing in the Blur multiplayer beta/demo, but the time is swiftly coming for that chapter to come to a close so that the actual game will appear on store shelves. Activision sent out a press release where they called the beta a success, so I suppose it was.

More importantly, they mentioned some new features which might lure you back in for one final taste before the demo closes on May 10th. Here's a rundown:

  • The ability to play A-Class cars in standard playlists
  • An expanded Supercar Racing Playlist that include races in Tokyo and Amboy
  • Power-Ups now shuffle so each race has different Power-Up placement
  • Players can earn double the amount of fans for each race, allowing players to quickly reach Rank-15 and experience the full Beta demo experience
Cool stuff. Maybe I'll pop on for a bit Friday night. After all, I won't have another chance until Blur drops on May 25th (May 28th in Europe).

I really should use that beta key I've been sitting on since you gave 'em out.

And the 48 hour trial it brings...no Live.

Oh. I didn't even realize it was still going on.

I had a lot of fun with the beta. Pity it's published by Activision. Split/Second should be pretty cool though :)

It was surprisingly fun. I can't wait to see what the final verdict is. Here's hoping the final product is awesome.

Played it @ my brother in laws place, enjoyed it thoroughly. I'd buy a 360 AND have X Box Live just for it.,.

Was pretty fun, but I agree it's a shame it's Activision published. That's a boycott I can't back down from. Hopefully multiplayer Split/Second is just as fun cause that's where my money is going

Thanks for reminding me about the beta. I completely forgot that I had a beta code sitting in my inbox and I'm now downloading as we speak. The 48-hour Live code hiding in the email was also nice though it still won't let me play Halo online for some reason.

All those changes, sans power up shuffling (Which will add a nice bit of extra challenge and balance), are pointless. I've played enough, I wanna stay 'cooled down' on it before it drops in 19 days.

Looking forward to the launch and while I agree I dislike Activision's latest business practices, I'm still gonna play the game.

From what I played of the Split/Second demo, I definately prefer Blur. The demo didn't have as much "oomph" as the Blur beta did and knowing they hada rival on the market they should have stepped their game up(No pun intended).

It was a fun game but if i wanted a Mario Kart clone i would just play Mario Kart. I liked how split second brought more in the way of unique game play to the table with entire sections of the track changing over and over.

You're an idiot if you pass up on playing a game because you dislike the publisher.

@MesonW: Right on.... except for that being the entire basis of capitalism.

These are some decent features, I'd be interested in trying them out.
Old article, but still great news.
