Blue Dragon may actually be the savior photo

We all know the story: Japan is kinda cold to Microsoft and the 360 has struggled because of that. We also know that Blue Dragon is supposed to be the peace offering that warms the heart of many a Japanese gamer. After the title finally dropped in Japan, early reaction seems to point to the attempt actually working on Microsoft's behalf. In fact, according to at least one Japanese site, people actually waited overnight for the game. Shocking, isn't it?

Don't mean to mention the competition, but Ashcraft's article on this is pretty good. His impressions seem to indicate reception was pretty luke warm at best.

Well, for as long as people have been muffing their laughter at the 360s performance in Japan, others have just as vehemently claimed that it's only a matter of software. I say, if MS if listening and trying to give japanese gamers what they want, then they deserve whatever success that brings.

Any time a company as large as MS listens to its constituents, it's good for all of us.

Its good to see Blue Dragon already taking effect in Japan. If the game is really as good as its cracked up to be (which i really hope it is) then its only a matter of time until more and more people start picking it up. It will spread by word of mouth

Yeah I read that article that Winter mentioned. It said people were really in stores to pick the new Gundam and that Yakuza 2 launched that day too.

And this isn't the first time they've tried something like this either.

They tried it with the Xbox with Phantom Dust. Which was a great game that MS made a Asia only release then Majesco picked it up and released it in the US, with almost no marketing. Sad thing is Phantom Dust was a great game nothing like it and most people have never even heard of it.

Thanks MS.

I don't know if the Xbox 360 will take off because of this game alone in Japan, but it's definitely a start.

So thats it? All MS had to do is release one RPG and Japan is sold. They should start a game studio over there, I think the Xbox in general would benefit from that not only in Japan.

Yea hopefully Microsoft can pull im some good RPGs which in my opinion was the only real thing lacking from the original Xbox.

I intend to pick up Blue Dragon once it hits the states, and hope that it is a success over here.
