Blue Dragon demo coming this summer, new North American content confirmed photo

Something about Mistwalker's Blue Dragon has piqued my interest since I first laid my eyes on it; but I was never sure if my short, American attention span (due to years of MTV and episodes of Baywatch, no doubt) would be able to handle it. It looks like I'll have my chance to find out before the game hits shelves this August.

In a recent interview with GameSpot, designer Hironobu Sakaguchi has confirmed plans for an English-language Blue Dragon demo, set to hit the Xbox Live Marketplace sometime in June or July. The localization of Blue Dragon is also discussed  in the interview -- only two of the in-game songs are receiving the translation treatment and more notably, an adjusted difficultly (that was included as downloadable content in Japan) is being included in the North American game.

There's also talk of downloadable content for Western shores, including a new dungeon and an "impossible" difficulty level.

When asked about a demo for Mistwalker's other Xbox 360 RPG, the Unreal 3 powered Lost Oddessy, [Microsoft's global project manager] Hees Kyung is all like, "Step off. It ain't happening, sucka. How about some video content, dog?" Except, you know, he was much more professional about it.

Finally. I've been waitin for this news for quite some time now. Funny thing is, I'm not even a big RPG fan. Something about it interests me.

Must be the bright colors ;-)

i enjoy older rpgs. The turn-based action is a big draw for me. i've got this thing in my head as a cross between chronotrigger/supermarioRPG/dragonballz...all of which i have enjoyed immensely in the past.

the game looks gorgeous.

Ooh, pretty. As an RPG fan(boy?), I'm pretty stoked about Blue Dragon. That and Trusy Bell could warrant an Xbox 360 purchase. Did I mention I was a poor RPG fanboy?

This game looks awesome, though it reminds me of Dragonball Z a little too much.

Lost Oddessy? You mean Lost Odyssey, yes?

Speaking of, I really don't care about Blue Dragon so much, but I really wish there was more info about Lost Odyssey out there. I'm looking forward to it more than Blue Dragon.

Y'know, i'm still not feeling Blue Dragon, i think the choice of art style is turning me off to it. I mean i've seen similar style elsewhere such as in the dragonquest games, and it worked well there, but here it's just plain not working for me at all... Could be the use of normal shading instead of celshading... or maybe it's because the heads of the characters are bigger then usual and the style doesn't work with the bigger heads... not sure exactly, i just plain can't stand the style used... grant it, i kinda have a thing against that DBZ style in general, on the emotional level, it just doesn't feel as strong as other anime styles (which makes it bad for serious/dramatic moments)... but atleast the style worked better with other games then it's working here... So i'm kinda waiting on Lost Odyssey at this point, letting blue dragon pass on by.

I hope blue dragon does well so that developers produce more of them (RPGs). More More More!

I thought it was being RELEASED in June/July... unless they're gonna launch the demo side-by-side with the game itself.

Blue Dragon looks like an overhyped pile of monkey nuts and big eyeballs.

So, if North America is getting extra content, will it be downloadable in Japan, or will they have to buy an increasingly-popular "international final remix deluxe version" a la SquareEnix?
