Since Super Meat Boy was first announced, it's inspired two comic books, plenty of stuffed "animals", and an educational series of posts on game design, among other things. The US army even sent the game's developers a flag. Not bad for a game that hasn't even been released yet.

This new video shows us a lot of new stuff, including the game's first boss fight, some new enemies, environmental hazards, music, and cut scenes. Can you spot the reference to one of the best action/puzzle games ever released on the NES? Here's a hint; the star of the game has fought Kirby before, but has never appeared in a Smash Bros. game.

First person who guesses right gets a special reward, which will probably just be a comment that includes a pic of a giant hamburger or something.

I love waiting for unmutable or pausable obnoxious 30 second ads in order to watch highly compressed video!

This is seriously the last time I use dtoid for video purposes :\

@ Kor Jax- What can I say? I'd hope that you'd just mute your computer for 30 seconds, and deal with the fact that if you want Destructoid to exist, then we need to get money from somewhere. If 30 seconds ads are really to much of a burden on you, then you can always take a few minutes to find the same video on Youtube. It'll take longer, but at least you wont be subjected to the terror of advertising.

@ Rocket-Auk-

I would kill for a burger of that magnitude atm.

On topic : I still can't believe this game has gone farther than Alien Hominid.

@Doc lulz
it is almost the exact same type of game as n+, even has the chaser rockets. I think this game will be much more interesting than N+ with the inclusion of boss fights, a 'story', and a huge heaping pile of style (something N was severely lacking). I hope this game doesn't frustrate me as bad as N+ because that was what eventually drove me away from the game. SMB seems to have the things that N lacked though, so I think if anything it will at least offer more replay value.

@danvflor

exactly. it hurts me to keep waiting, when i can see that it's already an incredible game. it is probably a smart move to release it after the mario, metroid, and sin onslaught that is coming so soon. so i might be able to forgive 'em.

Love the montage of death or whatever it's called. More games need that.

the only frustrating thing in N+ for me was that if you mindlessly press a you will delete your save file

@ Badassbill- How can "controls look awful" in a gameplay trailer? Can you see how it feels to play this game with some sort of super look/feel sixth sense? Or was it the music that let you know how the game would control?

@ KalosBlue- A bigger, better version of the game is hitting XBLA first.

A strange decision must be made for this game -- will I choose the multiplayer-enabled version on XBLA while having to use that awful d-pad? Or will I settle for the WiiWare version that controls better yet lacks multiplayer?

At the very least, I hope both games are priced accordingly. It would feel like a ripoff to have both cost the same when one version will have way more content than the other.

Non-edit edit: OH! Maybe I'll get the PC version so that I can use most any controller I want.
