Since Super Meat Boy was first announced, it's inspired two comic books, plenty of stuffed "animals", and an educational series of posts on game design, among other things. The US army even sent the game's developers a flag. Not bad for a game that hasn't even been released yet.
This new video shows us a lot of new stuff, including the game's first boss fight, some new enemies, environmental hazards, music, and cut scenes. Can you spot the reference to one of the best action/puzzle games ever released on the NES? Here's a hint; the star of the game has fought Kirby before, but has never appeared in a Smash Bros. game.
First person who guesses right gets a special reward, which will probably just be a comment that includes a pic of a giant hamburger or something.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
This is seriously the last time I use dtoid for video purposes :\
@ Rocket-Auk-
On topic : I still can't believe this game has gone farther than Alien Hominid.
it is almost the exact same type of game as n+, even has the chaser rockets. I think this game will be much more interesting than N+ with the inclusion of boss fights, a 'story', and a huge heaping pile of style (something N was severely lacking). I hope this game doesn't frustrate me as bad as N+ because that was what eventually drove me away from the game. SMB seems to have the things that N lacked though, so I think if anything it will at least offer more replay value.
exactly. it hurts me to keep waiting, when i can see that it's already an incredible game. it is probably a smart move to release it after the mario, metroid, and sin onslaught that is coming so soon. so i might be able to forgive 'em.
the only frustrating thing in N+ for me was that if you mindlessly press a you will delete your save file
i need this game nooow :D
although i now i'm going to hate it some times for the dificulty, but thats the way it shoud be ;)
I liked n+'s minimalist style
@ KalosBlue- A bigger, better version of the game is hitting XBLA first.
At the very least, I hope both games are priced accordingly. It would feel like a ripoff to have both cost the same when one version will have way more content than the other.
Non-edit edit: OH! Maybe I'll get the PC version so that I can use most any controller I want.
