First we were teased about a Square Enix product relating to "bahamut," and then we confirmed that Blood of Bahamut is a new DS RPG in the works. Now we have the first teaser trailer from this game.

In Blood of Bahamut, it seems that the people of the world have built cities on the backs of massive sleeping beasts. They've now awakened, and you play as one of the residents of this now moving city.

This short trailer gives us just a little taste of the game play. It looks like you'll actually be going head to head with these awakened beasts -- lazer eyes and all. You'll see that one beast lobs a big boulder toward the player, and the player has to slash it out of the way. Eventually, the player runs up the beast's arm, slashing away, knocking up hit point counts into the sky until the beast's arm falls off. It's like Shadow of the Colossus meets Final Fantasy. Kind of.

Sounds good to me! What about you?

I kinda feel like this game may take the monster hunter route (like every other Japanese game ATM) and offer up a 4 player co-op gameplay experience.

One thing about squareENIX, they've been making some pretty mediocre console games for the past few years but damn do they make some fucking kickass ds games.

Why am I thinking about a certain boss from DMC4 when I see that?

I understand that handheld technology is advancing, but I really wish the DS had a TV out function. I am not a big portable gamer, and I hate seeing games that, in the past, would have been only available only on console. Meaning a nice TV and comfy seating arrangement as well.

It seems my interest in this title has been piqued. I'll have to get a duster for my Pokeymans trader before this comes out.

Interesting, but I feel the scale of what you are doing with the warrior hitting the monster's arm combined with the city on top of its back is quite off.

Nevertheless, it's a great idea.
