God of War 3 Difficulty

SPOILERS

This article is not me bragging on my gaming skills because honestly I'm only good at certain games, but enjoy most games.

God of War 3 is probably one of the best games I've played on this generation of systems. The only problem I have with the game is that the difficulty changes drastically from one to another. I know that very hard means that your probably going to have amazing skills at [insert game title here] to finish it and easy means that you never played before or your just a wimp.

This game changes it all.

I've played GOW3 on normal and hard (started on very hard and didn't even bother to finish on easy). So I'm going to go in order of difficulties from easiest to hardest.

Starting with easy. On this difficulty made it past Poseidon with barely getting touched by anything including Poseidon. I then continued on to Hades, but never made it to him because I was getting bored with the little amount of challenge. Bottom line on easy is that it includes barely any challenge and if you never played the game or any game similar to GOW3 I would still recommend playing on normal difficulty.

Now on to normal difficulty. I would have to say that normal difficulty would be considered the easy difficulty in this game (well at least in my opinion). I started this difficulty right after I gave up on easy, and from the beginning I could already tell this difficulty is going to be better play on. Normal difficulty still posed little challenge to me. I probably died more by falling off of the edges from the fixed camera angles. The only things that posed a light challenge was Skorpius (giant ice scorpion if you can't tell by the name) and the final battle with Zeus. Even the first part of the Zeus battle was easy, but the second part was the part that posed the challenge. Other than that I made it through GOW3 on normal in about 8 hours.

Now on to hard difficulty. This is where the difficulties are not balanced after beating normal in hrs. I started hard and from about 2 to 3 hours in I saw that this game really is gonna challenge your button mashing skills, but After the Hades fight is when the game got really challenging to me. I honestly cannot tell you what weapon I used mostly throughout the game because I was pressing square square triangle with whatever weapon I have equipped. The two bosses that challenged me the most on normal were nearly impossible to me on hard. Especially the second part of the Zeus fight, in this fight I died more than I died throughout the game (probably being sarcastic but who knows). I thought I was going break my fingers from all the button mashing. Close to the end of the game I was just admiring the setting and the battles but not the actual fights. It was just irritating me and I was dying so many times that I was going to just listen to the game go with easy mode, but I was determined and exhausted. At the end I felt fulfilled by beating the game on hard.

In conclusion I would like to state that this game needs a better balancing of difficulties, but when you finish it on a harder difficulty you will definitely feel fulfilled with what you've done. Now on to beating the game on very hard.
