I do this.
It is awesome and sucks.
You see, I have this problem with multi-tasking. I try and find a way to game and work at
the same time. It all started a few years ago when I was driving from Indiana to Colorado.
I was playing in a band where I was the only dude with a drivers liscense/not drunk 24/7 so
I did most of the driving. I got all bummed because everyone else was having fun and
getting loaded while I was truckin along, smoking cigarettes and bumming out. So I said,
fuck it, and pulled out my DS and leveled my characters in Final Fantasy V (gba) while
driving on the highway.
I know!! it sounds super dangerous, but it's not.. really! I pulled it off like this: walking
back and forth outside of a town (so I could heal if need be) and listening for the battle
music to start. Once engaged in a battle, I would hold down the 'a' button and listen for the
battle to end. Rinse and repeat. It's that easy. I never had to look at the screen you see..
TOTALLY SAFE. After five or so hours, my party was jacked. I had applied the economic
rules of opportunity cost to playing Final Fantasy... That is an example of how addicted I am
to playing my favorite games.
Even at work, I play. I open the bar I manage very early in the morning. I usually get
done with the opening process thirty minutes before the bar opens, which leaves ample
time to play some Etrian Odyssey before work. The problem is, gameplay usually carries
over to the arrival of my first regular customer.
*This just happened. While typing this blog, my first customer arrived at 8:14.
Anyways.. Does this mean I'm addicted? An asshole? Addicted? Who knows. I just think I
love power leveling.

All the roads in the US as miles of straights anyways =]
Anyway, gaming while working is very common. On the endless hours of boredom of work, even Minesweeper gets an enormous appeal to play.
We all game at work, it's our version of crossword puzzles, or cig breaks, or walks in the park, and some do it occasionally, some play Crysis (points to self).
But dude, not while driving. If you crash, I won't say you didn't have it coming... but think about everyone else on the road who DON'T know you're leveling up.
While driving: ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS??? No..people in Florida don't know how to drive and you would die trying such tomfoolery.
My DS for gaming and my PSP for music/watching porn :-)
There are enough idiots on the road to worry about, I don't think I would push my luck or attention by doing that. That sounds detrimental to your health.
I won't say 'to each his own' on this one. It only takes a split-second for something to go wrong. Yeah, I get bored a lot when driving, but I'm not going to risk multitasking on the road when I could get home to my Fortress of Gametitude.
