I just finished portal for the orange box on xbox 360. This game was way better then expected. Although I have yet to beat all maps on advanced, I'm trying to right now. I hope that eventually valve will release more maps for portal due to the high popularity. If any of you have never played portal, go buy the orange box now!

Wait until you try the challenges and you realise (or don't perhaps) all the ways that you could have completed the levels first time round.

I may also see Portal as my game of the year. I haven't even really touched Half Life 2 or Team Fortress yet. I thought Portal would would be a nice addition to these but it is easily the standout.

I kind of agree with you Nex. althought it was a phenominal game, it could have been longer. Or maybe had some leaderboard features and maybe even some co-op only levels. I'm sure valve will release some new gameplay within the upcoming months.

A time-trial addition would be an awesome expansion.

User generated maps are needed. Some form of death match would be awesome too. But I'm pretty sure that's stretching it a bit.

Yea, xbox live marketplace makes the options limitless. I can see user created levels in the future.

Portal still astounds me. The simple and yet genre-bending concept married with one of the most interesting back-stories (or lack thereof) in recent memory, combines for a truly amazing gaming experience.

Fuck game length. The replayability and sheer awe-inspiring presentation make this an easy choice for game of the year. No questions asked.

You'd have to be pretty crazy to buy the orange box for 360. why? because for the pc version, the user made mods for portal are going to be awesome. Could we have that for 360? nope. also, if portal ever does get some DLC, it'll probably just end up costing users money when they most probably could've gotten the content for pc for freeeeeeee.

Can Portal be considered game of the year? It was apart of an entire package so I'm not sure if it qualifies. But yeah, Orange Box is definetly up in the running for game of the year. Oh yeah, Portal rocked.

I think the length of Portal was fine. For certain games (namely RPGs with large, open worlds) it makes sense to make it long and pack it with things to do. But I think Portal is a tight, distilled experience that is fine the way it is. Just wait for the modders to have their hand at making levels. Portal is definitely in a short list of game of the year candidates.

The biggest problem I have with portal is that most of the game is pretty much training and it's so short. I want to do more with the portal gun! I want it to take me 30 minutes to solve a puzzle! I just want more!

It is pretty good when the only bad thing I can say about it is that it is too short.
