unboxing the GBA "3D" candy
whormongr | 6:23 PM on 09.16.2009 14 comments

So recently as I was at my local party store for reasons that I won't get into right now, I was walking through the aisles and ran into the "3D" GBA candy.
If you had any doubts or confusion surrounding the number of dimensions that the candy exists in it is written quite plainly as so on the packaging:

Personally I was pretty happy as 2D candy usually doesn't fill me up.

In addition to the candy being in 3 dimensions, so is the container, as you can see from this lovely rear photo.

once the plastic is removed it is very apparant that these are fruit flavored candies as the sweet pungent smell fills the room.

.....and finally we get to the "meat" so to speak of the unit- the "3D" candies

As you can see from the photo for some reason the candy included in my unit had 2 yoshis which I found rather puzzling- with options like peach and luigi and toad, why 2 yoshis? I will need to look at the others the next time I am in the store to see if this was a fluke or if all of them have 2 yoshis.

In conclusion, I haven't quite figured out what I want to do with the case yet, but I do want to do something cool with it- I am half tempted to go and get a few to use as project boxes for some sort of mod......
for now it will hold "my favorite stuff" as indicated by the label.

Is this post awesome? Vote it up!

I can't wait for some MS to license some 360 HD candy.

I actually used to collect Nintendo themed candy. I still have a bunch of it laying around.

Great quality photos by the way, lighting is great.

Heh, never seen anything like that. Pretty nifty, but you didn't say the important bit!! How does it taste?!

Dare I ask how old that package is? I'm surprised that anything GBA-related is still on store shelves...

I had that! I personally liked the way the candies tasted, but maybe that's just youth and a love for gummies speaking.

Did anyone else used to get the tiny flip-open GameBoys that had the stuff powdery gum in it? And it'd have little GB game hint cards inside? Man, I wish I knew where those were. Takes me back, takes me back...

If I was you I wouldn't eat those candies...

@BulletMagnet strangely enough the date on it is 2008, why they would make it is strange- a few weeks before I got the wiimote candy- they also had a bunch of mario cart candies when I was there- a may go back and get them at some point

I've had the mints from the NES controller one too (though that has the old Nintendo Power logo on it, what the hell?). They're not bad, and I hear people clean the hell out of them to store DS carts. Seems about the right size, but you could certainly turn that into a spiffy belt buckle, couldn't you?

Man: Hey baby, if you input the Konami Code on this belt buckle, my pants will slide off. *suggestive smile*
Woman: Oh, sure thing. *thrusts knee into groin*
Man: NOOOOOO my futile efforts at interaction with the fairer sex...

*bows and runs*

Yes! Those were the f'n best! (the old GB with the powdery gum, that is)

I remember seeing these back in the GBA's heyday, always thought about getting one but never did. Now all I've got is a Mario mushroom with little sour candies inside.

The bookstore at my University has these mint containers shaped like Mega Mushrooms, Hylian Shields, Power up Stars and some other things. They're pretty sweet.
