Also, cocks.
Yeah, I couldn't get into Galactrix at all. If you liked Puzzle Quest, do yourself a favour and pick up Puzzle Kingdoms. It looks like cheap shovel-ware, but apparantly it's made by the same guys that made Puzzle Quest. It's not as good as Puzzle Quest, but it's definitely worth the $15-$20 (I found about 25 hours in it).
Hello... how bout that ride in? I guess thats why they call it Sin City haha. You guys might not know this but I consider myself a bit of a loner. I tend to think of myself as a one man wolf pack. But when my sister brought Doug home, I knew he was one of my own. And my wolf pack, it grew by one. So there... there was two of us in the wolf pack. I was alone first in the pack and Doug joined in later. And six months ago, when Doug introduced me to you guys I thought "wait a second, could it be?" And now I know for sure, I just added two more guys to my wolf pack. Four of us wolves, running around the desert together in Las Vegas, looking for strippers and cocaine.
I'm with Possumwrangler, you should totally buy Puzzle Kingdoms! I played the PC version after 150 hours of grinding in Puzzle Quest and 2 hours of play on Galactrix (that is a money burner right there, stay away from that shit).
I had high hopes for Kingdoms because the original PQ Warlords was behind it, and it didn't disappoint. Hell I'll go out on a limb and state that I prefer PQ Kingdoms over PQ Warlords, the mechanics are really fun and there is almost no grinding involved, the one thing I hated about Warlords. The battles are also a lot shorter in Kingdoms, which I like. Nothing sucks as much as a random encounter in Warlords which could take up some time if you are facing strong opponents. None of that in Kingdoms.
So basically, get Kingdoms (for PC or DS). I emulated Kingdoms on an PC NDS emulator and it played pretty much the same. The only thing that strikes me though is that this game doesn't look as good as Warlords, but hey the puzzle sequences itself look pretty good (if you are into diamonds and stuff :-D )
I tried to like Galactrix. I mean, the combat wasn't TOO bad, but the fact that you had to hack those Jumpgates and that they didn't stay open all the time...egh.
I understand a lot of people wondered how a hit like PQWarlords could result in such a terrible sequel. I tried a little bit of Puzzle Kingdoms. It's...different. But it also seems like a logical step from Warlords too. I may give it a shot again later on.
Since when has Destructoid become Twitter?
Enough with the one sentence blogs.
