I was playing Gears of War yesterday, and I began to notice something. My wife and I were having an extremely easy time winning each game with our team. This has become a recurring thing. It's not the same anymore on GoW, and according to my friends and little bro, alot of other games kind of suck when you go online lately. I'm guessing this is because of Halo 3 and the Orange Box. The Halo Effect, if you will.

Or the Orange Box, who the fuck knows? I don't own it, but judging by how hard a copy is to come by, alot of other people do.

I too am guilty of temporarily abandoning GoW, so shame on me. It still is a great game, but now I feel like completely disowning it for it's online incompetence. Anyone else out there agree? Have you completely stopped playing some of your old games now that we have Halo 3 and The Orange Box?

Most of the good players have moved to Halo 3 and TF2... so people who suck at GoW like myself have a chance now! Too bad Im too busy playing TF2 to care

I would, but I can only have like 1 game at a time.
I don't have a job, and I usually feel bad for my mom, so I always turn in the current game for credit towards my new one.

I got Orange Box yesterday and I am completely blown away. Valve, whose games I have never really played before, are gods to me for putting all these amazing games together in one package. Buy ut.

Yes i have. i haven't touched my Wii since i got my hands on the Orange Box. Team Fortress 2 owns my soul.

People don't play Gears of War anymore because it blows. I swear GoW had players only because of how pretty the game looked. I can't say that Halo 3 matches the graphics of GoW, but TF2 definitely does in its own way, also getting to play more game types and more than 4 players on each team probably helps too.

orange box definitely had an effect on the number of counter-strike players and servers. I see less an less compared to TF2 which just keeps growing. If only it had cross-platform.

The reason Gears of War is so popular is it's accessability. My wife can kick ass at sometimes, as can my little bro. It's a very easy game to figure out, just point and shoot. I love it because of the Torque Bow, plus the shotgun is awesome in it. But, I probably won't be playing it very much anymore.

@Jack - I'll admit...I agree with you on the multiplayer aspect, but Halo 3's SP sucked something fierce! I should back that up by saying that it wasn't really the gameplay, but the story...WTF?!?!? I think Heretic was referring to the SP...

Hopefully getting Orange Box either this weekend or next week for sure.

I have been playing TEAM FORTRESS 2 through all this time so I dont really care. GET THE ORANGE BOX PEOPLE! no system is complete withought having the orange box in you're shelf along with you're other games but halo 3...meh.

jack of no trades there is no such a thing as half life online on the orange box but I actually like half life 2 deathmatch ALOT more than any halo only gameplay
