The Retroforce Game Museum: Control Panel Overlay

Woo! Front page-GET! Thanks Hamza :)

A little update today. I'm out of town this weekend, so I haven't been able to work on my cabinet. I did order some green t-molding and the slot-cutting bit I needed from t-molding.com. I also worked more on the artwork pieces for the cab.

So I'm finalizing my design for the control panel overlay (CPO) and I can't decide which version I like best. The inspiration behind this is the Atari 2600 and it's retro-wood-grain-goodness. Maybe you guys can help me, which CPO is better; real wood grain or illustrated wood grain?

I like the first design, it's less busy and not as distracting.

Real would look classier, drawn would probably match that 80's arcade cabinet aesthetic better. I guess I vote real.

If you are going for the retro Atari look, then I would stick with the illustrated.

I'd say illustrated. I seems to fit the "retro" look more, what with it not being overly textured but it has a more limited pallet like, say, an 8-bit game with only 16 colours to choose from.

Illustrated fits with the other decals better.
