Recently, Ron posted an article regarding new shit in Halo 3 . What he didn't post was a shitload of high res images from the final version of Halo 3. Lately, people have been delving into the code of Halo 3 (most likely using XSATA) and finding new things. It seems that in the midst of all the code, Bungie has released some images, and people have taken high res scans of said images from a magazine. I've attached the images to a gallery in this same post. Below also some achievements, medals, maps,. Beware, LONG POST. Multiplayer Maps Name: Chill Description: Halo 3 Chill Name: Construct Description: Halo 3 Construct Name: Cyberdyne Description: Halo 3 Cyberdyne Name: High Ground Description: A relic of older conflicts, this base was reactivated after the New Mombasa Slipspace Event Name: Guardian Description: Halo 3 Guardian Name: Isolation Description: Halo 3 Isolation Name: Valhalla Description: The crew of V-398 barely survived their unplanned landing in this curious gorge Name: Epitaph Description: Some believe the Forerunners preferred desolate places. Others suggest that few other sites survived the Flood Name: Shrine Description: Halo 3 Shrine Name: Snowbound Description: Hostile conditions did not prevent the Covenant from seeking salvage on this buried Forerunner construct Name: Warthog Inc Description: Halo 3 Warthog Inc Name: Last Resort Description: Remote industrial sites like this one are routinely requisitioned and razed as part of Spartan training exercises Beta Code (With Maps/Achievements) achievement_complete_mission_jungle achievement_complete_mission_base achievement_complete_mission_outskirts achievement_complete_mission_voi achievement_complete_mission_floodvoi achievement_complete_mission_wasteland achievement_complete_mission_citadel achievement_complete_mission_highcharity achievement_complete_mission_halo achievement_complete_campaign_easy achievement_complete_campaign_normal achievement_complete_campaign_heroic achievement_complete_campaign_legendary achievement_find_jungle_skull achievement_find_base_skull achievement_find_outskirts_skull achievement_find_voi_skull achievement_find_floodvoi_skull achievement_find_waste_skull achievement_find_citadel_skull achievement_find_highcharity_skull achievement_find_halo_skull achievement_jungle_training achievement_jungle_no_casualties achievement_floodvoi_no_flood_victims achievement_spartan_recruit achievement_spartan_graduate achievement_spartan_officer achievement_extra_crispy achievement_banshee_surface_to_air_kill achievement_triple_kill achievement_killtacular achievement_sticky_x5 achievement_brokeback achievement_tripmine_vehicle_kill achievement_flag_carrier_kill achievement_kill_frenzy achievement_triple_sword_kill achievement_mongoose_splatter achievement_melee_kill_x5 achievement_needler_kill_x5 achievement_sniper_kill_frenzy achievement_headshot_kill_frenzy achievement_full_warthog_kill achievement_temporary_placeholder Now take a closer look, there’s much to be seen. First up, single player levels! Although not all them (and certainly not final) it would seem a number of achievements are unlocked simply by completing campaign levels as we would in any other game. List of levels: jungle base outskirts voi floodvoi wasteland citadel highcharity halo Weapons Assault Rifle Battle Rifle Beam Rifle Brute Shot Carbine Excavator Gravity Hammer Flamethrower Magnum Missile Launcher Needler Plasma Pistol Plasma Rifle Fuel Rod Cannon Rocket Launcher Shotgun SMG Sniper Rifle Spartan Laser Spiker Sword So the flamethrower returns, finally making it into a console version of Halo and the Fuel Rod Cannon too, pops up again after it’s brief stint in Halo 2’s single player campaign. You know when you start up the Halo 3 beta and you get that lovely message from Bungie telling you what you’re about to be doing and to enjoy yourself? Well, internal Microsoft and Bungie staff got a similar message when they were testing the game before us, only it’s more humorous than it is pleasant and can a still be found lurking within the data files of the beta we’re using. Here it is, for your enjoyment: Do not show this to anyone. Do not show screenshots to anyone. Do not talk about this, post about this, blog about this, complain about this, brag about this, or write about this (outside the sanctity of our beloved BetaPlace, of course). Otherwise, ninjas will be sent to bring ruin on your house and your house’s houses. And I don’t mean those punkass run of the mill MSNinjas. I mean the other ninjas. The cool ones. The ones on fire. Yeah. That’s right. Love, Bungie Weapons Mongoose Warthog Hornet Pelican Scorpion Ghost Brute Chopper Spectre Shadow Banshee Phantom Wraith So some old favourites are returning (Scorpion, Wraith, Spectre) along with some familliar but up until now uncontrollable ones too (Phantom, Pelican, Shadow), and the introduction of some entirely new vehicles on top of that (Hornet, Chopper). There really will be no need to walk anywhere in Halo 3. I’d take a guess and say the Hornet is a UNSC version of the Banshee, a one man flying vehicle with a little fire power - that way the vehicle sides are a little more balanced now that we’ve got the Mongoose and all, and it keeps with the UNSC’s habit for naming vehicles after wildlife. What is most interesting though, is how big are the maps going to need to be if we’re all flying around in Pelicans and Phantoms? The beta code we’re dissecting contains all the text for onscreen messages such as: Hold RB to drive Hornet Hold RB to operate Pelican Turret Hold RB to drive Shadow Hold RB to ride in Phantom Custom Gametypes CAPTURE THE FLAG Invade your opponent’s stronghold, heist their flag, and bring it back to your base to score. SLAYER Kill as many of your opponents as you can. The player with the most points wins. ODDBALL Find the ball and hold on to it to earn time. The player with the most time wins. KING OF THE HILL Gain control of the hill to earn time. Keep your opponents off and earn the most time to win. JUGGERNAUT Work together to take down the Juggernaut. Beware, you kill the Juggernaut, you become the Juggernaut, and only the Juggernaut can win. TERRITORIES Find and control the territories on the map. The more territories you control, the faster you earn time. INFECTION Destroy the Flood or become infected. Score points for killing flood or big points for infecting a human. The player with the most points wins. ASSAULT Da bomb! V.I.P. Protect the V.I.P. from dying at the hands of your opponents. If you are the V.I.P., you must stay alive or your opponents score a point. Team Slayer Team Swords Team Rockets Team Shotguns Team Fiesta Team Phantoms Slayer Duel Sword Duel Rifle Duel Rumble Slayer Rumble Swords Rumble Rockets Rumble Shotguns Oddball Fiesta Ball Team Ball King Phantom King Crazy King Team Crazy King Multi Flag CTF CTF Wraiths CTF Classic Shotgun CTF 1 Flag CTF 1 Flag CTF Fast Multi Bomb Assault Rapid Assault Neutral Bomb Neut. Bomb Fast 3 Plots Land Grab More info has also been found over at Hushed Casket, but in a totally different way. Due to a glitch in the Halo 3 beta menu that sometimes appears when playing, gamers have been able to get into the custom games menus and check out all that will be on offer. Here’s some of the settings found: Damage resistance Shield multiplier Shield recharge rate Immune to headshots Grenade counts Infinite ammo Weapon pickup disabled Player speed (25%, 50%, 75%, 90%, 100%, 110%, 125%, 150%, 200%, 300%) Player gravity (50%, 100%, 200%) Vehicle use (passenger only) Motion tracker range (10m, 25m, 75m, 100m, 150m) Appearance - Vis effects (black glow, team glow, white glow) - Active camo (good camo that might fool an elite, poor camo that might fool a grunt, invisible) Indestructible vehicles (on, off) These are at least some of the more intresting settings and there’s many more options inculed on the menus for each gametype. Things like adjusting the settings for Object carriers (Flag, Bomb) and VIP’s, while giving the rest of the team thier own different settings. A few more new gametypes have been spotted too, including Tank Ball and Tank Flag. Halo 3 Medals Double Kill Kill 2 opponents within 4 seconds of each other. Its interesting stuff really, incluging the way they extracted and decompiled the data. (Not posting here.) 7th Columnist
