Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
....maybe.
About backwards compatibility... if you have a PS2 already, why does it matter? No one is forcing you to trade it in or dump it just because you upgrade. Understandably, it would be nice to have it, but I just kept my PS2 and I realized after getting a PS3 it was being used more as a paperweight than anything. :)
i.m.o. the first gen sega genesis was better looking then the second gen one. Thanks to its headponejack and its volume control, it had the look and feel of a hifi machine you could display in your living room without feeling ashamed of having a toy.
Modern game consoles are lacking that high class feeling. i think its because nowadays they don't need to look like hifi machines, since gaming has grown in popularity amongst all ages.
i have my xbox360 sitting in a small niche next to the tv and my dolby digital decoder. it almost feels as if it was made to fill in that spot.
a PS2 is always better than a PS3 for backwards compatibility.
Running it on a none HD TV is good too.
Not joking.
The PS3 sounds like a turbine? No, I think you're confusing it with the wind tunnel known as the Xbox 360. The only time the PS3 is loud is when you're playing PS2 (and possibly PS1) games, but when you've got a Blu-ray in there or are playing a downloaded game, it's barely noticeable.
Also, @Crunshii
I've never had a single issue playing PS1 and PS2 games on my 80gb PS3. In fact, they play better and load faster most of the time.
