Mini-Reviews: Deus Ex Crackdown Legend of Tropico Minecraft
wasphone | 1:31 PM on 03.15.2010 4 comments

I always wanted to review games, but I never had the patience to make a full written review. And I know most people don't read them all. So I'll just make Mini-Reviews of games I've briefly/completely played! Don't take these to heart, their not proper reviews really.

CRACKDOWN (HINDSIGHT - 2 Player Coop with a Bro!)

I've been playing this game on and off since 2006, always loved it - probably always will. I never got the chance to really play through it with a friend, until yesterday!

First things first, if you're not the same skill level it can be pretty difficult to do some of the shit. But once you make your way or deal with the skill barrier it's really a great experience. We were having a lot of fun till the Shai-Gen. Then bosses wouldn't spawn, and difficulty spikes, lag, it was a mess. I eventually just said fuck it, and used some commonly known exploits to kill all the Shai-Gen quickly.

After that we played Keys to the City which is rad as shit, only wish Achievements (yes I enjoy getting achievements) were able to be achieved through KttC.

MINECRAFT (NEW GAME - 4 Players with bros through a multitude of playstiles.)

I started playing this when I heard about it on /v/. I didn't know how to play and gave up.

That was until my friends heard I was playing this cool game and learned it themselves and then tought me!

Shit is really damn fun, I've only gotten to play the free gamemodes, I'll buy InDev and give a micro-review of that too.

Basically, it's an awesome game. I think it is up to Garry's Mod in creation and freedom standards. And I believe my friends agree, maybe you too.

What we did... we did a lot. We joined a random server that was only partially full. But it wasn't full of bullcrap, it was full of cool things like buildings and it was still intact. So, while exploring we found a castle that had been destroyed. Now this castle was crazy elaborate, or atleast from what we could tell that was left of it. We thought that it was kinda sad someone did that so we started to rebuild it. It took like a whole week to get to a final completed version of it. And then to not get lost, I layed a brick road all the way from the spawn, to the castle. I was proud.

My friends were banned cause some Admin came in and said "Name a christmas song or get banned" and my friend said "Jingle Bell" and got banned. So, after the server was changed. We came back to find everything still there. We played Hide and Seek for a while and then I noticed Purple cubes make lava. So we got bored and covered the server in lava. Our castle is now a lava castle and our brave sanctuary of a world is now a brave lava world.

So yeah, great game. It's very, dynamic. You can build and troll!

Also, here is the server link to our former Castle: ]

BRUTAL LEGEND (NEW GAME - Just Single Player, all difficulties)

Well, I loved Psychonauts and most of Tim Schafer's works. But damn, this could be considered one of the worst games I have ever played.

This game plays it's self off as an Action Adventure title. I was aware of the Third Person RTS aspects when I got it, I was hoping it wouldn't be as bad if I expected it. Jesus, I was so wrong. It's a cool concept, just the execution is so bad.

I am a pretty skilled "gamer", I'd say. I don't normally meet a challenge I can't overcome. But the battles in this game were just so damn difficult for some reason. I started on Brutal and ended on the easiest difficulty still getting my ass handed to me.

Now I could hate this game through fault of my own, but I'm sure other people see it as well.

I hated the gameplay of the game, but the world, characters, and music were fucking awesome. Like, if they took all the cool shit, scrapped the RTS stuff and made the combat a lot better this game would be probably a totally fucking awesome game!

And it is sad. Since I don't believe this game did too well, we probably won't see another Tim Schafer game :(

TROPICO (NEW GAME - Hardly played.)

I bought this pack on Steam for $10 cause Tropico 3 sounded rad. I think I should have just bought Tropico 3. The game is a little too dated for me. I wanna hear some opinions on this... Suggestions to make the game good? Concept is totally rad.

Deus Ex: Game of the Year (Old Game - Can't get to work)

Now this is more of a plea for help. I bought this game in 2008 and haven't played it at all. I bought Deus Ex: Invisible War last week during the Steam Sale and decided to play this first.

When I run the game, it's in super slow-motion. I know to set the affinity to 1 core, but it doesn't actually save it. So it's either really fast, or really slow.

Need a fix.

Done, I'll do some more. And make them better quality, perhaps.

Is this post awesome? Vote it up!

Man, your mini-reviews are mega-awesome (ya see what I did there).
I liked this format. I'm never going to pass on a full review, but these bite sized ones let me know if I should be bothered to find out more.

Thanks. These games are fairly old, but reviews are still relevant
