Please note the use of the term “I will” not “you should”.
As I know this is going to be a rather contentious issue, I would like people to know that this is my preference. You will be able to tell from the fact most of these reasons are that I simply don't care about some aspects which make the 360 “better”. I own both the Xbox 360 as well as the PS3. I also plan to get me some of those tasty GTA IVs. What will surprise most people is that my current plan is to buy the game for my hungry PS3. Why? I hear you ask, pitchfork at the ready, well, let me explain myself and this traitorous deed.
Sorry, but I don't care if there is a better frame rate on the 360.
From what i have read and heard, the game runs at a slightly higher frame rate on the 360. Sadly, I don't care. If half the textures were low-rez and it ran at 3 fps on the PS3, then we would have an issue, but if I can only tell which version is which by looking at them side by side, I really don't care.
Live is better
Yep, Live is better than what the PS3 has at the moment, but in 6 months time, Home will be out. Hopefully matching Live in it's features and usability. I also don't actually mind too much as I'm not expecting to spend too much time playing the game on Live, appart from the odd FNF. Even with it's last-gen online service, pre-home PSN is still usable (just look at the games out there using it!).
There is also the fact Live will mostly likely break for a week when the game launches, just sayin'.
I don't mind the PS3 controller
Yeah, the rear triggers feel like ass. Small, hard asses to be precise, but it doesn't bother me half as much as I expected. As such, unless there are extra buttons on the 360 controller I don't know about, of if the controls in-game are actually different, the PS3 controller is fine. It might also (totally un-confirmed) use the -axis, which, if you haven't played a game where it's used well, is sexy.
DLC
Hmm, this doesn't kinda suck. But, if the content is good, and designed to be in the game, I kinda hate Rockstar for not putting it in the game to start with. People alawys complain when DLC is used an an excuse to sell you bits of the game they already made, so why is it different to now? Ok, not the best defence here, but it's something that does bother me a little bit.
Also, if the DLC is really good, I can always play it on a mates copy and/or swap my PS3 version. Either way, I don't need to decide for another 6 months on the DLC issue.
Achievements
Gamerscore lol. Lol Gamerscore.
My biggest reason: Xbox reliability
I think I am going to love GTA IV. I also think I would like to ply it all without my Xbox crapping out on me. My playing of Lost Odyssey has been ruined. Or at least my appreciation and passion dampened by my 360's relentless audio issues and disc read errors. Not to mention the ever present thread of a rrod. I know I can re-set the caches each morning as I have my breakfast, and I do, but it still breaks. You may think it's acceptable, but sadly, I'm a whiney bitch who for some reason comes to expect reliability as standard. I do not want this to happen to my play through of GTA IV. This is a major issue for me, and the main reason I am looking for the PS3 to serve me up my GTA IV pie.

On Live: You're right, it IS better. Question is, will you still actually be playing GTAIV when Home comes out?
On controller: "Not minding" something doesn't make it good nor does it make it better. You're basically saying, "Well, my PS3 has a controller... so it can be controlled." Kind of not an issue if you look at it like that.
On DLC: I'd wait to pass judgment on this being a factor when it's actually revealed. There's a high probability you'll be kicking yourself in the ass if your forgo the future option of DLC.
On achievements: Agreed.
On reliability: While it's certainly an issue, it's most definitely become more and more of a non-issue. The newer models run perfectly fine, although it sounds like you don't have one of those models.
Overall, I disagree, but you're allowed to make your own choices. You're a big boy.

Home isn't going to make PS3 online functionality any better. It'll provide something fun to do, sure, but it'll hardly fix all of the broken connections I get while playing CoD or Unreal.

Huh? The voice chat on PS3 works beautifully as long as you have a Bluetooth headset. I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. And in-game XMB will be here by the summer, so that won’t be an issue anymore.

When I was talking about difficulty with the voice chat, I guess I really meant the simplicity of voice chatting with your friends while doing whatever on your console (like you can with the 360) is lacking on the PS3.
Or maybe I'm just feeling a little jaded right now because I had such a frustrating time trying to hook up with a friend for some voice chatting in Warhawk the other day.
Also, I had some pretty stupid chat lag in Warhawk...
(# 32) on 04/17/2008 20:15
Word from people in the home beta is that it's lame, I wouldn't count on it to bring PSN up to Live standards. Also, I think there is a question on how solid the 2008 release is.
Plus CVG(via kotaku) is saying that Rockstar is looking to redefine DLC, and that they are hinting that the DLC is a city. If that actually ends up being true I doubt that borrowing someone else's copy would let you experience the whole thing.

dude, seriously this was the most retarded post i've ever read. you're either one of those 'i'm going to be different just for the sake of being different cuz it's cool' types or you don't really own a 360.
kris kross was different too, they wore their pants backwards. but the downside to that is that they wore their pants backwards..
(# 36) on 04/17/2008 20:55
It's also probably worth pointing out (again) that my concern isn't with the rrod occurring, but with the disc read error occurring, frequently. This will either cause maps/textures to not load, music to not play or the game to come to an unexpected halt with no warning.
By highlighting the positives often given with the 360 version of the game, I also pointed out I didn't much mind "missing out" on them and explained why. Basically saying, I know what I'm missing, but it's worth it not to have the game impaired by the disc read issues.
When I wrote this I expected people who have preference of the 360 console to complain, but then I also expected them to do this because they didn't read my cblog properly.

I think everyone should read them again, whats the point of having a slight advantage on one system, but if you going to put serious hours of fun in that system, whats the advantage when 50% of people around the world have a high chance that the system will fail on you?
5/10 will get to play GTV, while the other half will be 4 weeks without gameplay? unless... you get another backup...

If someone has a bitter taste from having bad service, bad system, even with a warranty, so what? that doesn't make up all the horrible times one has to go through the stupid phone call, get a box and mail it, then have nothing to play for 3-4 weeks to then play the game, and having the system crash again in the future.
And a small reminded, 3 years is not allot of time and time is running out, what then after the 3 years is over and you get RROD for the 11th time?

Just do like I might do, Ward. Buy the PS3 version for now, and when the DLC is announced (and it actually turns out to be good) go and buy (or rent) the game for the 360.
Problem solved.

I just hope that sony starts to push forward fast and steady with the online system of the ps3. They are trying to convience developers that is not that hard to program for the ps3, they spended the last several months into that detail so we may see a more steady flow of games for the ps3 in the future.
The bluray having won the format war doesnt hurt either. The ps3 is the best bluray player out there (online updates).
So I sort of start to like the ps3. Of course, the 360, rrod and everything, still has a huge game library.
