After the revelation of Radiohead's next album “In Rainbows” being sold for a price you choose I got thinking: how well would this work for the games industry? Are the people who buy games willing to support the industry they love, or would they just leach it for all it's worth and leave it in a gutter somewhere? For example, with a game like Bioshock, how much would you pay (hindsight is allowed)? I know I wouldn't pay the full asking price, however I would pay at least half, around the £20 ($40) mark. This is how much I would pay for a Starwars box set, and so for things which give me this level of joy, this is the price I will pay. How much would you pay? If anything. Be honest, we're all friends here.

Honestly, cereally, I would have paid $60 for it, in foresight and hindsight. I knew it was going to be amazing. For other games though, I would probably "test drive" them for free, and then go back and pay however much I felt would be appropriate.
I think what radiohead is doing with their new album is awsome. I plan on waiting for the retail release so I can buy that box set I keep hearing about.
I can't wait for next Tuesday.
Oh, and BioShock? It's worth the 70 bucks I paid for it. I've played it through twice, will eventually play a third time, and had one of the most memorable experiences with any entertainment medium I've had in my life. Well worth the money I'd say.
