[My PC is too borked for me to make nice images, usue your imagination or something]
Intel have announced in a press release that they are set to buy the Havok games engine. Havok, most recently noted for the power behind BioShock, as well as Crackdown, Half Life 2 and MotorStorm is to be bought by Intel. From the press release: "Havok is a proven leader in physics technology for gaming and digital content, and will become a key element of Intel's visual computing and graphics efforts," said Renee J. James, vice president and general manager of Intel's Software and Solutions Group. "Havok will operate its business as usual, which will allow them to continue developing products that are offered across all platforms in the industry." This sounds very good for Havok and means an increased budget among other things. Intel have also hinted that this will lead to much better integration of the product with their chips. So, better title anybody? Oh, and the future of Havok?

haha i made a funny, but its serious :)
Havok has been the cornor sotone becuase there simply was not any competition...
i think all Physics should be processed on board the GPU: give it its own chip, that or as Intel is doing full integration into the CPU....
but you'll need to make it so adaptable or sell it like its going out of style, even though Ageia physx is better, no ones using it hardly.
I've also heard that Nvidia is coming up with some way of using older graphics cards to render physics. You just pop the older card into an empty expansion slot and it becomes a dedicated physics card. Cool idea, but totally bad news for Aegia.
