That's me. I really like zombie stuff, pretty much every type of video game, drawing things (It's been like six months), play music in a band, and am a geek. Very much so, in fact. Also, I drew the Maxx that I'm using in my header. It's going to stay there until I hit some inspiration for some video game artwork.
My job is to make the computers and electronics at my work rise again from the dead. It's alright, as jobs go. Of course, since I'm heavily into computers, I either have or have had every major type of personal computer known to man... so if you ever want to discuss computer things, I can probably have a lengthy conversation about it.
I live in the mostly sunny Central Florida, and have for about 16 years now. I'm pretty sure I'm too old to be playing games anymore, but I really don't see that ending any time soon and hope it never will.
I have a gaming PC (C2D E6550 2.33Ghz/8800GTS 512), PS2, Dreamcast, N64, DS, PSP, Xbox 360 and PS3, but I have owned an Odyssey2, Aquarius, ColecoVision, NES, SNES, Genesis, GameBoy (as well as Advance and SP), PS1, Xbox, and a Wii as well. They've all either been broken, sold, or have been grudgingly traded in for the "next best thing" due to lack of funds to buy them outright.
I read fanatically, and even though I have plenty of different books there are several that are read over and over again. Pretty much anything that William Gibson or Terry Pratchett have done are my favorites, but there are plenty of writers that still get my attention. To be certain, I'm happy Rhianna Pratchett is writing for videogames.
2. It's free. Now it doesn't have as much dlc nor do I imagine as many people play it. But come on. Fucking free.
3. Zero news and Im irritated myself about it.
4. Considering what a collosal disappointment Fable was, probably not much. Left 4 Dead... I'd miss it. And maybe they'll actually make a more fleshed out game with GOW2 because I love over-the-shoulder shooters, but it did nothing for me.
5. If you like God of War and Final Fantasy series? A fuckton. I don't give a shit about Wipeout though, sorry.
1. 360 has x2 memory compared to PS3, therefore: better frames per second and such..
2. Live is nice/hella good now and will always be years ahead
3. Software compatibility (for PS2 emu) will theoretically be 99+% given the time and enough resources
4. A lot
5. A little, maybe more.. I dunno
Ok, so I suxxors on the bonus round. But that is my opinion.
2. When you play on the psn you really do start to miss out on in game friends lists and such. Whenever Sony gets this in the experience should be comparable.
3. I would love to know myself so I can see if I get rid of my ps2.
I'm not gonna answer 4/5 as that is totally personal preferance. But here is my advice... save up the cash and buy both, no reason not to.
2. Though I don't play online often and I'm not an achievement whore, I miss Live's "rich presence" when I'm on the PS3. There is no PS3 equivalent to Live integration. Each game kind of does its own thing where networking is concerned, like the PS2. Though it looks like this will improve with in-game XMB integration, trophies, and maybe Home will tie it all together. Maybe. The PSN store has a healthy variety of games, but on the whole they don't stand up to XBLA's best. 1080p video off of the PSN store looks great though.
3. I haven't heard about the 40GB model getting PS2 support, but since it is software emulation I suppose it could happen. I picked up a discontinued 60GB model for a little over $400 for the PS2 support. If you're really interested, they're still out there. You just have to hunt around to avoid a rip-off.
4 / 5. Depends on your tastes I guess. Personally my RPG affections run more toward FFXIII than Fable 2, but I want to play them both.
2. Online is better with Live right now, but with in-game XMB and Home coming, I think everything will be evened out between the two. As for right now, though, Live is still on top in my opinion.
3. Don't know about to the 40gb, although that is a huge rumor right now. Honestly, if it doesn't matter that much, then just go for it. I waited 'til I could find an 80gb, but only because I don't like to have dozens of systems all over.
4. & 5. This is complete preference and the hardest part of the decision, I'm afraid. You just have to figure out which ones you like more.
Personally, my take is that the PS3 and 360 have generally become the same things, save for the exclusive titles (which are important to look into, yes). However, as much as I like the 360 and its game library, I won't support it again until the hardware is completely fixed, which I don't see happening any time soon. I sold my 360 after hearing the horror stories (and having it semi-die and fix itself on me once) and bought my PS3 with the money, and I've personally been very happy. It's a complete preference thing.
2. As mentioned, Live is better then the PSN, but the PSN is constantly improving and catching up to live. When 2.4 hits its gonna catch up quite a bit, and by the time Home hits its probably going to surpass it in some respects. Free is also nice.
3. I've heard rumours of an upgrade to the 40 gigers that will allow backwards compatibility for ages, but then again its just a rumour.
4/5 Its up to you. I got a PS3 because I prefer their exclusives, and alot of Microsoft's exclusives eventually make their way over to the PC anyways. But I suppose that doesn't really matter much if you don't have a decent PC. Anyways, your decision.
2. Well, Xbox Live is an ostensibly better service, but once the PS3's v2.40 firmware comes out (less than three weeks is the rumor), a lot of the differences will go away. Also, the PSN doesn't cost $50 a year.
3. Nothing official yet, though there have been inklings that Sony will patch that in sometime later this year.
Bonus Questions:
4. A lot. Well, I personally don't care about Fable 2 (not an RPG guy) or Left 4 Dead (not a zombie game guy), but I enjoyed the first Gears, and I imagine that the second one will be even better.
5. A lot. Wipeout HD, not so much -- that's not really a game that's high on my radar. But God of War III is going to be amazing, I think, and as for FF XIII, while I don't personally care about it, I think it's going to be a real system seller.
I too.. gave up on 360. I used to not really care what sony was doing until I picked up a PSP. Over time I begain to love my psp... thats when it happend.. my 360 RROD'd AGAIN.
I said fuck it and picked up a PS3.
I have yet to have a problem with my PS3 and I think its probably the best quality console out.
Currently the PS3 has a great line up and more to come... some real big hits coming out.
The 40 gig B/C.. (I also own the 40 gig) was rumored to have a firmware upgrade sometime in the near future to add PS2 emulation. (If you think about it.. its totally possible since the newer models that have it are software based emulators).
Psn... I love PSN. Free, no problems... CONSTANT upgrades and they update the (sexy) store every thursday. Also, a movie service is coming rather soon. Dont believe the haters... there is no lag on the games, they play fine online.. people have mics... its a great service that I believe will be BETTER (I said it, lol) than XBL. As stated above 2.40 should be out around E3 and will contain in game XMB to message your friends in game and respond to them... and a trophy system (sort of like XBL achivments).
As far as what console looks better... I really couldnt say.
They are both amazing looking... in HD or SD. I for one happen to think a lot of lighting and textures do look better on the PS3 though, after having both. Look at uncharted or MGS4 for example.
In the end its up to you... I just am showing what I love about my buy. I hope you come out happy in the end... thats all that matters.
Basically, go sit outside, attach a cup to your shoe, take a nap, and then pay for it.
