![]() Damn, I'm such a Microsoft bitch ass. I have a Windows based laptop, a 360, and a Zune. Actually, I don't find the need for being attached to a company when all they care about is my money. It's the same way I think about prostitutes. It's not love, they're just blowing me for my $25. So, as to why I chose to buy a Zune? Simple; I needed a new MP3 player after my iPod Video's screen broke. I knew I needed a lot of space and I eventually just narrowed it down to the iPod Classic (80GB) or the new 80GB Zune. I knew the iPod was a reliable machine so I was originally skewed towards that, but I ultimately went for the Zune based on design. For starters, in my opinion, the Zune looks better. The iPod classic is too round, and to be honest, the unchanged look of it turned me off. Sure, the wheel was innovative, but that was a couple of years ago. The Zune's boxy and non glossy design (less smudges) won me over. The second thing I looked at was the screen. If you're going to have video capabilities I need something that isn't the size of my cell phone's LCD. The Zune has a nice wide screen similar (but not as big) to that of the PSP. I did a bit of research and even looked at both machines at my local electronics store. The interface on both machines were pretty much the same. They both organized music properly, but the iPod organized TV Shows and Movies a lot better. The Zune just drops video files and does nothing to organize. Also, both MP3 players do a bit of swapping features. The iPod plays games, and the Zune has this Social feature that lets you send music to your friends. The lame thing is, you can only listen to a song 3 times before it locks it. It is better, but slower way of showing your friends a song (provided they own any of the Zunes). And it has a radio which is nice because I like to listen to the Adam Corolla show in the morning and other talk shows later on. I knew I wasn't going to play any iPod games (I own a PSP for that) and the social feature I might use. Maybe....not likely. It also has wifi which I think has the ability to become something better in a new firmware update (All Zunes update to the same firmware no matter what generation or type for now). The fact is, both of these MP3 players are almost exactly the same and my final decision maker was just looks. Also, the Zune headphones are strangely awesome in that they look like they'll last me. Also, also, I got my Zune for $10 less than I would an iPod thanks to an Amazon deal (with free shipping). It's a pretty solid MP3 player that should be sticking to the iPod. The Zune's software is almost identical to iTunes (with a smaller music library than iTunes, I believe). The Zune does have this subscription deal going on, but I'm not to keen on the details.

I need to upgrade.
Aside from the godawful software and its insistence that my Eisley albums name is "a tribute to FFVII" everything has been peachy. Still wish we could go back to the old zune software though.
Zune cards are sweet as hell don't forget to throw one up on your blog. check my blog for a sample. they need to broaden thier artist database, no "World-inferno friendship society"
WTF?
oh yeah and Japanese support. WE NEEDS IT ON DAY ZERO, not two years after launch. Us weaboos don't like looking at damned boxes. this is the one thing that keeps it a notch below the ipod.
that and being solely reliant on that terrible software. UGH!
but hey it plays music and for that i luff mai zune.
The Nanos are going for $149, not $140. Muh bad.

I get this:
Also, the subscription thing sounds sort of lame to me. It's alright, but I just can't see myself paying for that.
That happens to me as well. I noticed it started to happen around X-mas. I think its related to the same problems XBL is having. just leave it as-is and it'll start to display your music sooner or later
thanks for reminding me to go and grab that. I've been infatuated with all the CES gizmos to grasb it
What put me off getting a Zune or iPod is the huge price but also lack of features I want. Zune files are more likely to have DRM, which I understand the concept of, but don't agree with or want.
How much is a 30gb Zen Vision M now? I picked one up on ebay for like $120. Here's to the wonders of internet shopping. It would have cost me about £170 in the U.K.
