I’ve been hosting Halo 3 on Fridays for some time now. I’ve been hosting it long enough for me to consider it my baby. The one time I wasn’t able to host I felt really about it, and couldn’t wait for the next to come around so I could do it again and make up for lost time. So, you can see how happy I got to see that yesterday’s Friday Night Fights was such a success that we didn’t have enough room for everyone. Now, we didn’t get enough people to justify 2 rooms, but still. I’m really happy Halo 3 was big enough that it overflowed and spilled over. We’ve been the minority for a while and change is nice.
So, back to the night and it went, right?
The first thing I did was jumped into IRC to jump start the Haloing. MechaMonkey was in here first, followed by Salman, Heretic, redthehaze and Neonie (sigh) with his friends. The room began to fill up strangely fast after the first match (Big Team Battle). Before I knew it the room was filled to capacity. I was overfilled with joy, and yeah, I do understand that this is 99% because of the free maps (which frankly aren’t that great if you didn’t notice).
We want back and forth between old and new maps. We played a lot of the Destructoid map thanks to Lark’s attendance. His robot is awesome. It has testicles (and doesn’t afraid of anything?). By the time we got to Lark’s map we had a full party. And Lark’s game was about the 5th one we played. The full party made it many times more awesome than it already was.
Lark hosted for a bit, then it was given back to me and we got down to some more traditional Halo. It’s mostly because I suck ass at forge and partly to satisfy those conservative gamers. There were a few objective games on on Standoff, and a few custom Foundry maps played. We didn’t play as much of the DLC maps as I thought we would.
Zombie Chase proved yet again that it’s one of the best gametypes around. Seven Seas and it are one of the best infection (zombies) variants to play. Although Seven Seas could work better with less rounds and it’s starting to lose its fun.
Halo 3 PROTIP: When you view a match on Bungie.net all of its assets including screenshots taken and video clips recorded for that match will be able to be found on the same page. Just look under game assets on this page. That match should have three screenshots for you to watch.
It was fun to be able to play with Emodrox (Wardrox). He was a bit touchy last night. It was pretty entertaining to listen to because he has a pretty accent that makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. At one point Puppet came into our games and I have very little doubt that Wardrox would kill him if they ever were to meet in real life. I can feel it in his voice. Ragedrox!
Our resident whiner, 007 was also in full effect. “I wanna’ play Call of Duty 4.” It’s almost as if he had an echo effect on his headset because I heard that sentence for about an hour. His boyfriend Heretic was in there making things worse for him. I think the best thing those two can do is work their crap out. Maybe they can have make-up sex? We just can’t have marital disputes during FNF. It’s silly-nonsense, I say!
So, apart from electro lemon hosting, everything went off without a hitch. Oh, except for when Heretic left we were all booted from the party. Way to be annoying even when you’re not here, guy (<3). It was an amazing night. It got a bit out of hand during the end, but I thank each and every one of you for coming on. I’m fully prepared to go back to the old Halo 3 days where it’s rare if the games fill to capacity. I’m just happy I was able to play with such a large and badass crowd. I mean, GuitarAtomik?
Really though, I appreciated it, guys. It can’t thank you enough.

Heretic got us all booted? That's what happened? I just remember the game ends and I'm the only one left, and trying to rejoin anyone else's game failed, so I went to sleep.
