Firefox VS Internet Explorer VS Safari VS Opera
vampireblood | 10:17 PM on 05.13.2008 32 comments

Hey I was wondering which browser everyone uses. Recently I've been using Safari even though I'm on a PC guy who mainly uses his PC for gaming. Firefox is always second and screw Internet Explorer.

What Browser do you use?

Shit I forgot about a Opera Photo, so much for equal opportunity.

I mainly use Opera, followed by Firefox, followed by IE. Though right now I'd rather be using that blonde.

I'm mad on Browser Statistics and according to W3Schools Firefox has 39.1% Market Share now

http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp

Opera hasn't really changed. IE6 is finally going away 'cause of Vista and people finally leaving it for Internet Explorer 7.

Most Windows users haven't even tried Safari on Windows though.

And people on MAC will go Firefox or Safari usually because there isn't much option.

The main reason why I'm so interesting in this stuff now is because I'm creating a website and I want it to look the same in every browser. That's pretty hard the more complicated the site becomes.

What the thoroughly unhelpful commenters are trying to say is that this is a topic that is better suited for the Dtoid forums, and not the community blogs. In the future, or perhaps even RIGHT NOW, take this sort of thing to the forums, so as not to add to the c-blog clutter.

To answer your question, I'm a Firefox 2 user. I hate IE7. I have Opera installed, but I rarely use it. I've never tried Safari, nor do I really care to.

I use firefox. I started back when firefox kicked the shit out of IE. IE8 has pretty much caught up, but its different enough that i prefer firefox still.

Firefox, I resent that Safari tries to download every time I have to update other Apple products.

@Sharpless

I was wondering what is appropriate for the Dtoid community blogs?

Does it have to be computer/video game related?

I thought it was generally everything to do with PCs. From OSes right down to the core, my Mobo has 45 Transistors etc.

Thanks every for the feedback. Seems statistically and by everyones comments that Firefox = win.

So I'll know to optimise my site for firefox priority over Internet Explorer.

I'm a Mac guy, and because I think Safari looks ugly, I use Camino, which is based on Firefox.

You'll have to check with CTZ, if you want to know exactly what's allowed on the blogs. As for everyone who's bleating "forums!" we're more like quality control. This is a content-less post, for the most part. Basically, if it's not at least an attempt at a well thought out, interesting blog, or if it's not a sufficiently funny image/video/joke to excuse its low amount of content, it probably won't be welcome. The forums are a more appropriate venue for polls and the like.

That's not exactly a perfect way of quality control, and a lot of people are generally unhelpful dicks who would rather act cool and have some lulz than actually take the time to inform people about what they're doing wrong and what they can do to fix it. But it'll have to do for now.

My computer is a piece of shit, so I don’t want to add to its instability by installing the Firefox 3 beta. So for now, I’m just sticking with Firefox 2, which is the greatest browser known to man once you customize it to your liking with extensions. However, I occasionally have problems with embedded videos, so when that happens, I have to default to IE 7 — but I really hate doing that, because IE blows.

I usually use firefox at home and IE for uni stuff.
I might get round getting firefox 3 beta. I just hope it doesn't leak memory like my version which is currently using 100MB + with just a few windows open.

Firefox then Opera.

Using Safari almost feels like a step backwards for me. I've been using mouse gestures, extensions and hot keys for years, mainly thanks to Opera, and Firefox's ability to be modified made it the default of choice. Safari has never been modifiable like either of those two, so despite me owning a mac, it goes totally unused.

I hate using Safari on my Mac. I currently use Firefox 3 beta and so far so good. There's a few bugs in it but nothing worth worrying about.

Firefox to me is the best browser period.

FireFox for life. I honestly don't know how I lived without that browser and tabs for so long. I only use Safari on my iPod Touch, and Internet Explorer if I'm FORCED to for work things.

Is Firefox has Microsoft Permissions? How long does Microsoft grant you use of Firefox? 30 days,60,93days? After reading The Truth about Linux I get very scared. The Firefoxes are questionable. I really don't want all work to be payed to Microsoft as Firefoxes probably has many of the Microsoft Intelectual Property inside. I don't see sticker on it like -Intel Inside". But it uses Internet Explore. It must. How can it not? The Firefoxes must break into IE pipes to download the internets from the worldweb and the gopher. If I reboot it after 30 days, am I still libel for infringment and accessory? Will they come after me? I don't want to get sued. I don't have enought money to pay for defense. I just want to see the internets.
