I saw this earlier while trawling for news to post on Jtor, but I didn't want to go "SQUEEE OMG" for as long as possible, lest my hopes get up.
But I can't take it anymore! *SQUEEE OMG HOPES UP* Persona 5 might be coming on the PS3, might be an exclusive! I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH THAT THESE ARE RUMORS. BUT RUMORS ARE WHAT C-BLOGS ARE FOR, SO YEAH. A report placed on 7rush, a pachinko site covering the announcement of the new MegaTen-themed pachinko machine, slipped the following note into the last paragraph: 
A googlefish translation is as follows: "Which will be announced at the Consumer Playstation3 Persona 4, with the software. Around MEGATENBUMU" bound to stir up!" SUPER WEIRD UPDATE: Inputting "ペルソナ5" into googlefish spits out "Persona 4." LOL WUT?! Most interesting is the use of the characters "専用" right after "Playstation 3", which translate as "exclusive". Siliconera notes that this is also what happened with Persona 4 and the PS2, with the mention having been included in a Bloomberg financial report. Keep in mind that there were other media at the event, including Dengeki Online, who made no mention. Chances are that this is just a mistake and will be quietly removed. It could also be an accident, and actually referring to "Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey", the new MegaTen game. The paragraph in the report also mentions (via googlefish) "October 8", and "10.08" was in the leaked image hacked out of the Strange Journey teaser site. Then again, the report specifically states "Persona 5". Who knows? It's all positive anyway, be it new Persona or new MegaTen! A Persona sequel is inevitable given the huge success, and a current-gen appearance of some kind of MegaTen game is likely, given that P4 was pretty much the PS2's swan song. Persona basically made the MegaTen games in the western market. Sure, Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga and Devil Summoner are all great, but Persona 3 was where the cash started flowing in. Now, have a .gif while I wipe the jizz off my keyboard.

Subenu, there's plenty of reasons to own a PS3.
For starters, it has the best game of the generation so far in Valkyria Chronicles.

As for Devil Survivor, it's the highest reviewed DS game in months and everyone around here that's played it has loved it. You're entitled to your opinion, but you're in the minority as far as that game's concerned.
Either way, about fucking time, I wonder how it will turn out.

In any case, I want SMT4 a million times over before anther Persona. Yeah, they were great, but I'm tired of that take on the universe. I want real demons!
I couldn't agree more, I am surprised how there are so few JRPGs on a PlayStation as it was famous for drainign off all of Nintendo's in the late 90s. Probably it became their turn already. But I am glad it got Disgaea 4 and Valkiria Chronicles at least.
To be perfectly honest I'd second you on that. I'm of the opinion that Persona's current formula has reached its maximum potential, with no more possible iterative improvements (maybe less menus?).
For it to continue and still feel fresh, some kind of fundamental shift in design is needed. Who knows, maybe the move to a current-gen platform will make that possible, but a new MegaTen game overall would be the best move.
So far I'm really liking what they've done with Devil Survivor. The familiar anime tropes combined with SMT's more "real demon" feel has been working out for me, as personally I haven't been able to relate as much to Nocturne and the other "core" SMT titles.
Then again, Devil Survivor isn't a core title either. It bears the "Megami Ibunroku" header, the same one that the original Persona games held that indicated that they were spinoffs.
Still. Most MegaTen is good MegaTen, so I'm happy either way.

Oh, I know the trip did that, but I'm talking about like some huge, storyline-of-epicness tie-in, especially after seeing that reference Margaret made to P3. Probably just a rabid Persona fan's dream. :P
