Once again, the disease that is the online RPG sucks my life away. As I previously stated in an earlier blog, I enjoy Ragnarok Online. I've searched for a very long time to find a decent MMORPG, but found that the staggering majority of them are just plain awful. Ragnarok Online, however, is actually pretty enjoyable. In my opinion, anyway.
After years of playing on private servers (unofficial servers that are free to play), I'm curious as to what an official Ragnarok Online server will be like. The private servers I've played on have ranged from hosting less than fifty people at a time (these were fun, cause I knew everybody and got to hang out with GMs) to hosting upwards of a thousand people at a time.
I've asked once before, but I'll call out to my fellow Dtoiders once again: Does anyone want to give Ragnarok Online a shot? Private servers can be bitchy to set up and there are entirely too many of them to pick a good one to play on, so I think an official free server may be interesting to try.
You can check out the official Ragnarok Online website to see if you're interested or skip straight to the download page if you're feeling adventurous. The client is more than a gigabyte in size, so you may want to use the torrent option to download it. Don't forget to download the Valkyrie install file so you can play on the free server with the rest of us.
How about it, Destructoid? Will I see any of you online? It'd be pretty sweet if we could get a Dtoid guild going....
I used to play on the official RO, before it went to a pay service. I remember the tens of thousands of people, and the day before it closed, the 400 people on the server, rapidly grinding to get in a few last levels.
I'm on a free server now, but I might give official RO a try again, granted, I'm used to higher exp rates.
RO is my first MMO ever waaaay back in the day in 2002 (Philippine version). Since then Ive only tried private servers which really butcher the game and make it not worth playing. I wouldve tried this one if they didnt announce that Shin Megami Tensei MMO.
i only ever played private servers. i've never been one who's patient enough to take my time and grind to max level. i imagine it must be boring and on RO? screw that.
Hello friends, this is a nice site and I wanted to post a note to let you know, good job! Thanks

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
It got boring.

Unfortunately, money always gets the best of me.
I may try and return, depending on my schedule and what other games are on the horizon for release.
