I just found this amazing game, called Audiosurf. It's for the PC and it's only a beta right now, but it's still cool as hell. It looks like this was posted a while back, but it doesn't seem as though there was a playable version around at that time.
Basically, it's a music game in which you use your own MP3s (or M4A, WMA, or any other crazy music formats you may have) to generate a crazy road (it reminds me of Frequency/Amplitude) that has all kinds of bumps and turns that match up to your music.
You control a tiny ship (again, very Frequency/Amplitude like) and collect different colored blocks. When you hit a block, it moves down to the grid below you, much like your average block-based puzzle game would. Connecting three like-colored blocks will get you points. The different colored blocks also come in time with the music, with cooler colors being more mellow parts of the song and hotter colors being more intense parts of the song.
There are many different ships you can play as and they each change the way you handle the song. There's one that only requires you to deal with colored blocks and gray blocks (one to hit and one to avoid), so you can be more relaxed when you play. There's another one that does all of the colors with the ability to save one for later and one more that lets you push blocks to either side, rather than dealing with them wherever they happen to fall. There are other ships, but I don't really feel like going into detail about all of them. You'll just have to check them out yourself.
I've only tried a few songs in it so far, but they worked great. For the tutorial I used "Musique" by Daft Punk, which turned out to be the perfect tutorial song. After playing multiple songs, I haven't really found anything that wasn't awesome to play.
The online leaderboards are really neat, too. They even keep track of the top 30 most played songs, which you can check out at the bottom of this page.
It's something you'll really have to try for yourself, since it's best with your own music, but below is a video I found of somebody playing "Change the World" by The Offspring (when I first saw the name, I thought it was that crappy Inuyasha opening theme.....thank god it isn't). They're playing with a ship that only deals with colored blocks and gray blocks, so it's not quite as hectic as it could be. It's also kinda slow at first, so you may want to skip ahead a bit to see some of the cooler parts.
Audiosurf is crazy awesome and you should download it. Like, right now. It's only a beta at the moment, but I can hardly tell. The full version is due out next month, so be sure to check it out then, also.
I looked at the website again a few days ago, but apparently I wasn't paying attention enough and didn't see there was a beta now. I need to check this out so much.
Thanks for the tip, tsuki, because I've been waiting for this for awhile. It's pretty goddamn fun, which means that I can't wait to ride through my entire music collection. I'm just disappointed that no one's played the Jimi Hendrix version of "All Along the Watchtower," because that song is a blast.
The mapping for the custom songs are pretty impressive.
I did No Cars Go by The Arcade Fire and noticed a significant drop in notes when the song gets quiet.

You should have sent this to me as opposed to the hamster ball game. What kind of sick individual are you? XD
I think I would be more inclined to play this than Amplitude, solely for the fact that you use your own music. Same reason I purchased Phase. Too bad the iPod was just not meant to be played more than 20 minutes at a time...
MissHinasaki = sucker for games with good music or games with her music... and hamsters.
Bleh, all i can do is the AudioSurf overture and that's about it after changing the host. thanks for the hint though. Got to play for 20 minutes then got home from work and the beta was over ^_

WTF?
The site is down right now, it's really sad.
Website is back up! Dunno if you should have a direct link to the beta like that though?
Oh noes it was just a weekend beta test, and their servers died. =<
Pretty sure if I would have denied that auto update I could still be playing it... Damn
@Lukich
Nope, I tried reinstalling and it still locks you out of playing, update or not.
Here's a way to get around it though (I think it redirects you to a different server).
1. Find a file called "hosts" in this directory: "C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc"
2. Open it in Notepad and add this on a new line at the bottom: "72.167.39.116 www.audio-surf.com"
3. Run it and enjoy! (You can update, too. It'll still work.)
Can you verify if that works? I tried it, but was unable to login, which subsequently meant I couldn't play.
