So I stumbled onto this article this morning:
Capcom vs. (insert idea here)
opening Capcom up to suggestions for their next crossover game.
Immediately I knew what I wanted to see and why I've wanted to see it.
A lot of people have made other suggestions. Here's why I don't believe those will work and you will agree:
1.Square Enix.
Most of their well known games are role playing games and I never really believed in there being much of a rivalry between the two companies.
2. Shonen Jump.
Well I think people are just suggesting this because of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. But I honestly think that in order for there to be a perfect crossover, the mediums should be the same. (having all videogame characters is ideal)
3. Sega.
This is a pretty good idea. Sega has been a strong company with many strong franchises backing it. HOWEVER, this sort of crossover would be best executed with another company that it often fought with throughout the 90s...
MY SUGGESTION:
Capcom vs. Konami!!
Think about it. Both companies have many excellent and memorable franchises and characters(Casltevania, Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Goemon games, Contra, suikoden...). Also, their battle as dominant third party companies has raged for decades ever since the NES and neither has given an inch. The two are really awesome companies and I'd love to see a crossover between the two, as I've longed for it for quite a long time.

Nintendo is the only correct answer. Nintendo's deep and incredible vault of characters deserve a better fighting engine than SSBB.

I agree with Novakaine. I don't like Smash Brothers at all but I would love to see some Nintendo characters duking it out in a Capcom style fighter, regardless if its a crossover or not.
Capcom vs Squenix would be awesome.
I think the Shonen Jump idea is pretty swell as well.
If you think a 2d style fighting game is more appropriate for a nintendo franchise than the platforming chaos they have with smash bros, then I don't think you've forgotten what Nintendo games are like.

I like the Konami idea, though Novakaine's right that it'd be awesome to see the Nintendo characters in a traditional fighting game.
Agreed, Konami and Capcom were pretty much the best and strongest third-party Japanese developers since the NES era. It'd be an injustice if the two didn't put their IP's together.
They should just release Capcom vs SNK 3 and be done with it.

Capcom vs. Sega would be awesome. It would be interesting to see a Street Fighter / Virtua Fighter hybrid sort of thing. Instead of a 2D anime crapfest, I would rather see a 3D Versus title for once with a solid fighting system.
yea except for the fact that virtua fighter isn't virtua fighter if its not a 3d arena brawler.
I'd kill for a Capcom Vs SNK 3 with K', Shermie, Dudley, and Makoto. As for more fantasy nominations, Capcom Vs Arc System Works, my team would be Litchi, Johnny, and Bison.

Really, Capcom vs Sega would be tight. As well as Konami.
