My thoughts on return of the, monkey island series

Now a big news on E3 that i had no idea about, was the remake and new chapters in the monkey island series.
And being a huge monkey island fan. I literally jumped up in joy.

Now as i understand it they are remaking the original. And giving us a new game in chapters like Sam & Max called tales of monkey island.

First my thoughts on the remake. HURRAY it looks pretty good and has the feel of the original and better yet the great voice work by all the originals we heard from the curse of monkey island (Dominic Armato the perfect voice for Guybrush Threepwood). And more.

Now i also like how they have coded the remake on top of the original so players have a choice to play the remake or the original with the press of a button. Also the music has gotten some positive overlook.
All in all i believe this will be a great remake and hopefully it will get new people to expirience the joy that is monkey island.

Now as for the brand new game tales of monkey island. I like how they seem to have kept the original fell of the monkey island games. But like so may other fans i think the decision to going full blown 3D is not the best for the series. I fell in love with its simplicity and pure comic genius. So i hope they can impress but i am a little more reserved about this one than i am the remake. So i hope on July 7 telltale games can bring the greatness that was monkey island back.

Thanks for reading my blog and as always,. this is themaninthejacket saying have a nice day =)

I just saw the new artwork for the XBLA remake yesterday, and I was shocked by how wrong it looked. Still will buy, but will play in original mode only.

As for the Tales games, art style again looks bad, but the storyline sounds amazing.

This is my most anticipated game that came from E3. I never played the Monkey Island series and I've heard good things. Plus the fact that you can play it in the new and original versions makes replayability easy. I hope they price it right as $15 or $20 might be a bit steep

The artwork is not incredible, is typical MI.
Besides is going to be episodic but not in the sam & max way, episodic like you will have to wait for the nwe content to continue the game.

I'm not worried about the episodic format...all MI games are split into chapters. And it sounds like they're going in a different direction than the Sam & Max games, which basically had you explore pretty much the same locations with a new twist each time.

Like others, I'm not really digging the art. But knowing that Dave Grossman and, at least a bit, Ron Gilbert are behind this leaves me more than confident.
