Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I did get them from a locally owned store until they got robbed, but now I go to Babbages, a smaller chain owned by GameStop.
The only independent game store near me is run by people who think they are some kind of superior beings. It is full of old tat with ridicuously expensive price tags because they hope that people who go in know nothing about games. Then, they're rude to everyone who tried to buy anything. It's really, really fun!
GAME generally.
Sometimes Amazon for cheaper deals.
Occasionally ebay for cheap imports.
I usually preorder from Gamestop. But I've decided to stick to online because it's cheaper and I'm tired of Gamestop and their associates / customer service screwing me over. I'll only go there for exclusives from now on, well, if it's worth it. Sometimes I buy from Target too.
I usually just go to the local GameStop or Toys'R'Us. There really aren't any mom & pop place near me aside from the weekend flea market, but they usually only have used or import games.
BestBuy, then Target or Wal-Mart, then Online, and lastly EB/Gamestop.
EB/Gamestop. As much as I hate their trade in prices (one of the reasons why I hate to trade in games) they do have a huge selection. Plus, they know their shit. Other times I do try local game stores (when their prices are reasonable) and flea markets.
There's an awesome game store in the International District called Pink Godzilla. I'd like to buy something from them someday, but it's all so pricey. Liongames.com is supposed to be indy and good.
When I preorder, I go to gamestop. Other than that, I found a target that noone else knows that they sell games. So, yeah.
Liongames.com seems nice. They're located in my state too!
I am in the same boat as what_bus. Gamefellas is a small chain (and I do mean small), and they sell a lot of imports and used/retro items, but it's the kind of place that will scoff at you for trying to purchase anything that's "trendy".
There's a small chain here in that only exists in the U.S. midwest called Slackers. It's much closer to me than GameStop and has a much rarer selection of games, along with new releases. Plus, their used games aren't outrageously expensive.
BestBuy for all my PC titles and gamestop/ebgames for my others, only used... if i want new i go to amazon or demand an unopened behind the counter copy at GS/EB
If there is a cool preorder bonus or an exclusive special edition (Bioshock, etc...), I'll buy from gamestop, otherwise I don't care, bestbuy, walmart, target, all the same to me.
I don't generally shop online.
I stay as far away from EB Games as possible.
So I usually go to Best Buy or Microplay.
as of late it's been liongames.com and familyvideo.com. they might get to me a week or more after the release date, but i'm saving $$$ ($10-15 on average).
if gamestop is having a B2G1 sale i go. sucker for the sale.
Best Buy, Target, Walmart... EB/Gamestop for used games.
