About
First off, I abide.

Secondly, love teh haloz. Play a lot of FPS on the 360. The drunken Wii Sports is fun from time to time. Don't own a Ps3 and don't plan on it.

I dig and own almost every retro gaming system, and still play them from time to time.

Other than gaming, i watch a lot of movies (own almost 700 dvds and over 400 vhs). TV sux! I love to gamble as well, poker, black jack, craps, and sports betting.

Occupation- I manage a bar in ATL, which is why 95% of my posts will be slurred. I drink quite often, and AA is for
quitters.

It's been some time since I have posted here on Dtoid. Reason being, I opened up a bar in Atlanta over a year ago and have been swamped with planning, promoting, drinking, sexing, working, and other various "ings". Feel free to check out my website http://www.dieselatlanta.com or if you live in the Atlanta area, stop by for a beer.

Now, with the whole "help" thing. I am trying to plan a Game Night on Tuesday's to increase some business. We have four 52" 1080p screens around the main bar, and a 100inch HD projector in our front room. We currently use the projector for Wii and Xbox360 games, mainly Rock Band/Guitar Hero and Wii Sports. People really enjoy it, but I think we can do more. With my love of the gaming, I want to plan a night full of retro games, new releases, crappy video game movies, high score contests, etc...

Here is a list we have come up with, and this is where I need the communities help. MORE INPUT!

Retro Games:
Set-up one NES or SNES & one Sega console. Have a high score contest running on each console all night. Galaga, Pacman, Tetris, Sonic, Mario Games, Punchout, Contra, games of fairly high popularity that people will remember playing as a kid. We would give away a $10 gift card or bar tab, maybe just give them a beer.

Themed Nights:
Fight Night: Classic fighting games: Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Killer Instict, Clay Fighters & the like. Hold tournaments throughout the night, on the classic consoles with prizes. We could also have the new popular title on our Projector, SF4, Tekken, etc.

Football Night:
We have a fairly large football crowd on the weekends, so this is a natural fit. Tecmo Bowl, Mutant League, Retro Madden games, hold tournaments as well.

DJ/emcee:
We will have a dj for the night, playing good "Nerdcore" music. Asking video game trivia, and possibly commentary on the Final Match of tournaments.

Movies:
Two of our screens would be rather difficult to hook up consoles, so we thought we would play Cult movies. Most video game related but also good cult classics: Lebowski, Boondock Saints, Army of Darkness, Kubrick, etc..

Board Games:
Always fun, and easy to turn into a drinking game. All the classics: Battleship, Jenga, Rock'em Sock'em Robots.

New Releases:
Most of the reason we want to hold this night on Tuesday's. Give us a great opportunity to allow people to try out the new hot games on day one. I would love to have a LAN party on all 5 screens, however, until I can build a large clientele for this night I doubt I can find 4 other copies of game on day one.

Music Games:
Our county allows us to sell alcohol until 3am. We are thinking we bust out the drums and guitars every night around midnight. We can crank it up in the projector room and let people play the rest of the night.

Wii:
Of course we could always go with the easy bowling night. We were thinking a girls only boxing tournament, seems like it would be fun.

Prize Wheel:
Possibly build a huge prize wheel that you would spin to determine what you win. Smaller slots for bigger prizes like vintage games/systems or gift cards to video game store, then large slots for "bartenders choice" (bad shots) or "High Grav of the Night".

MOAR BEER

That's all I can think of for now, and I know this was a long boring read. I have basically fried my brain over this, and really want it to work. We are over 21 all the time so not allowing kids should help us out. We are talking with sales reps and thinking of pairing the night up with a high gravity beer. Maybe "High Gravs & High Scores" for our flyers. Something of that nature, and each night we would introduce a new high gravity at a discounted price.

Here are some questions I have:

What would make you come out to a bar to play games?

Would you be more willing to play music games if you could play the ION drum kit and use the "real" modded guitars?

What themed nights would you add/take away?

What prizes would you like? Vintage games & systems? MOAR Beer?

How/where should I advertise? Any good Atlanta video game blogs? (I only read this one!)

Anything else you would like to suggest.

Thanks for taking the time to read, and hopefully I get some good responses. You can always email me if you prefer:
