7-Eleven's Latest Batch of Street Date Breakers
thebza 9 comments

Confirmed, as you can see in the pic above which i took today at approx 1:30pm...

7-Eleven will be getting Resident Evil 5, The Sims 3, Street Fighter IV, and Halo Wars... this looks to be their first batch of games of 09, and hopefully if their past record is anything to go by, this is the place to go to get your gaming fix early!

do you pee in the sink? **updated**
thebza 51 comments

be honest.

[edit]

let me elaborate. i was doing stuff in the front room one night, the wife was in the bedroom... i think i was deep into fallout 3 and didn't want to break the zone i was in by going in the bedroom (to the bathroom) and have to talk to her...

so i went in the sink. maybe more than once, but it was the same night, there were no dishes, i do them, nothing sits in the sink.

later she commented the sink was stanky, and i took (silent) personal offense to that statement i mean... water goes down there all the time, why is my peepee any different?

i think she knows.

anyways, that's why i'm asking, be good, don't pee in the sink because she'll know... somehow or another.

How to get Mirror's Edge for FREE (or close to it)
thebza 13 comments

so today i picked up my copy of Mirror's Edge from the evil GamePlop, only reason being they were giving out the free yellow runner's bag as used by faith, the game's main character.

well it most definitely was one of the coolest game freebies i've ever seen, the quality is evident as it seems surprisingly well made, but i immediately thought, 'what the hell am i going to do with this?'. first off it's a courier bag that's meant to be worn over the shoulder, aka a man purse. b), it's yellow. and fourthly, maybe i could sport it if my style was a lame faux hawk hairdo while wearing an xtra medium t-shirt 2 sizes too small and my sister's jeans, but i don't roll like that. plus i just have too much shit in my tiny one bedroom apartment at the beach and my significant other... she would prefer i didn't collect EVEN MORE useless shit. so i threw it up on ebay about 5 hours ago...

and with 6 1/2 days left on the auction block it's already fetching over $30... if i can hit the sweet $65 mark i made my money back and got a free Mirror's Edge, and anything over that is just bonus!

so if you can part with your precious game swag you too can get a FREE Mirror's Edge (as long as you preordered it from GamePlop, that is)!

DTOID review scores, can they be fixed?
thebza 79 comments

okay, i'm not going to lie.. i've been having issues with dtoid's latest reviews on big games :

Fable II - got a 7.5 here, metacritic (meaning the rest of the world) has it at 89, a difference of 14%. Also officially giving it the lowest score out of every website on the internet on metacritic :(

Silent Hill Homecoming - got a 9 here (what), metacritic 72%, a difference of 18%.

Armored Core For Answer - got a 3 here, metacritic 65%, a difference of 35%.

Too Human - got a 2 here, metacritic has it a 65%, a difference of 45% (WHAT).

i think you see where this is going.

these discrepancies are ridiculous.. in my opinion dtoid reviews are VERY well written, some of the best out there, but the scores suck flat out. i almost *never* agree with the number scores.

and please, all of you "scores shouldn't matter" people.. don't post a reply here saying that shit, it's old... and if scores shouldn't matter, dtoid shouldn't score. period.

BUT i have an idea that might help fix this issue, check this idea (came to me in a dream) :

what if dtoid continues to review games, sans the number score (since most the reviewers say they hate the number score anyways)... then below that in the comment section there could be a voting 1-10 thing where the DTOID COMMUNITY can rate the game and leave a "i agree with the review here because xxx.. i disagree with it because... gave it an #".

SO we the DTOID COMMUNITY, actually hand out the number score! i think this idea is great, think about it... would braid be a 10 if it were up to us and not just the 5-6 reviewers? or silent hill a 9? highly doubt it. and instead of leaving it up to 5 people to decide a score for all, it'll be all of US that decide the score.

i think this idea is great, especially since DTOID always pushes itself as "the largest independent game community on the internet"... if it's really an independent game community, then give us some of the power to score games ourselves and take the pressure off DTOID reviewers who hate number scores and just let them do what they're good at, writing the actual review piece.

Let me know what you think!
