Hello I was going to try a " how to make GTA4 polittically correct " post but I thought "ah why don't I do a good solid intro C-BLOG? ". I had one problem when trying to start this blog, how do I begin? after reading other cblogs I still had no idea. After wasting a long time in front of a white screen I decided to just add a paradox and there it was.

Annoying intros aside my name is Sam Matthew Spain so unfortunatly my initials suck with or without my middle name. I have been on the forums for a month and decided to put the big boy pants on and do a CBLOG hope it goes well eh?

The part which has games in it!
There is no better way to tell someone what type of gamer they are than explain breifly what games they liked the most over the years and so lets start at the begining, when I actually took games seriously as a child. This was around 1997-98 I was around 4 and a half years old and although I had played a sega before (mega drive I think?) I didn't really find it that interesting. It wasn't until the playstation one came along that I liked games.






This is more like it! ODDWORLD . to be fair this wasn't my first ps1 game, my first was destruction derby which I still remember trying to select each car and failing, never read manuals for controls then still don't now. It was inevitable that I would find ODDWORLD and from the first second I played it I WAS TERRIFIED! lots of blood, guts, pitfalls of certain death, gun wielding death creatures and lots and lots of saws mincing me up. Needless to say I sucked at it and I didn't like the factory and the horrible sligs but I did like freindly Abe and his Mudoken possie.

Thankfully I have the great being that is called a "DAD" otherwise I doubt I would of made it out of the factory, at last I found something more interesting than farting and other funny noises EXPLORING I loved the enviroment and it's quirky style also the game seemed to be alot easier now HAPPY FACE! I Eventually "succesfully" completed the game, after having a emotionaly scarred life I tried other games and over the following years I dedicated more and more time to gaming. I had allways still been an ODDWORLD nut which coincidently made me take anything other than the playstation seriously.




What is xbox? why has ODDWORLD betrayed me? Why do I have more hair on my arms and legs? these questions popped up in my head after learning that there would be a third ODDWORLD game YAY! more ODDWORLD but wha' it's not coming on the playstation??? It must sound like a solid fanboyish statement right there but I have a few justifying reasons. Microsoft had ruined my dear ol' gaming and I made a choice which totally changed what sort of gamer I am now.

1. No internet, I didn't even know about Nintendo and I forgot most of SEGA and I certanly didn't know that were "console wars"
2. Microsoft?, another effect of no internet was that I had no proper knowlage of the games industry, all I had was playstation magazines and they aren't going to tell me about microsoft are they?
and finally
3. I live near Liverpool, although a very crap excuse it must still be noted Playstations are very very popular in this region so the common ideology is that the Playstaion is the console to have and FIFA is the game to have

I never liked FIFA.

Wouldn't it be stupid if I bought an XBOX just because of ONE SINGLE GAME? Seriously the only reason I asked for an XBOX was because of Munch's Oddysee not because of the graphics ( who cares about the graphics? ), not because I wanted a new console ( what's wrong with the playstation ) it was only because I wanted the next ODDWORLD game. Anyway I got my newly favoured XBOX and pressed the mighty power button for the first time. I was instantly impressed by the console and the game. The controller was pathetic though I must add, but everything was incredible after getting bored of the main game ( which took a long time ) I looked at a little section on the menu called demos.

Demos on a game disk? how absurd! I tried the little extras the most important of which being the Project gotham racing demo I now had a new favourite racing game! later on I bought the game. A few months later I went to my freinds house and we played a game called "Halo". I wonder what that game is? Like project gotham racing I instantly loved it and later on bought it. It was around now or a bit later that I learned about the Internet and the Playstaion 2 and a bit later after that Nintendo but the course was set, I am an XBOX fan(boy) and that won't change. No other games interested me in the next years that much apart from Halo 2, Star wars KOTOR, Fable, PGR2 and this thing called XBOX LIVE.

I didn't have access to the internet or even a PC so no XBOX LIVE FOR ME, SAD FACE. I still enjoyed halo 2 when playing with my freinds so all is well! Eventually in my issues of OXM the idea of an XBOX 2 cropped up, by now games were a major part of my life. XBOX 360 announced! YAY looks awesome what's that? Nintendo and Sony also releasing a new console? PAH who cares! Again a pure solid fanboy statement but I still had reason 1 and 3 from above so STFU! Because of it's hefty £400 price ($652.4 approx) it took me a while to get one.





Now we're talking! "Next gen" shiny new graphics and better games! pure awesome sauce! halo 3 isn't coming anytime soon but I had Perfect Dark Zero, PGR3 and the best life sucker ever... oblivion! It was around now I actaully gave a shit about graphics alot more. It only got better when I was aquainted with a PC and the Internet which means XBOX LIVE :D !!! After losing 3000G from making an XBOX LIVE account I was ready to enjoy the "online experience" well not exactly.

After saving and spending £40 to get Gold I played and thoroughly enjoyed XBOX LIVE at last no more single player, my online dream had come true! The following time came with a fortunate change thanks to a freind ( who is also a member of this site :D ) I gave more thought to Sony and Nintendo although I still was a 360 fanboy even after a truly tragic moment...




Halo 3 was coming! FANBOY RAGE! what could possibly be better? Well alot of things but don't burst my bubble! The graphics looked great and it sure looked like a fun game, especially forge but sure enough the RROD turned up just before the party was about to begin. VERY SAD FACE!

After the 360 was returned most of the story was spoiled but still I had Halo 3! And after completing it on heroic first time I was a very happy person! Over the next months I played Halo 3 alot but that could not match my hype for the upcoming MASS EFFECT! OMGZ! After losing alot of my time to another RPG the time was coming to become more open minded about competitors. Although I never bought anything I did read more about them. Apart from GTA there is nothing to do with 360 that is very interesting that you don't allready know from other people. It seems mundane for me to explain games that came out last year so lets skip to last month. I got a good PC. My last PC had about 215MB RAM and could barely run XP, my new PC has 4GB of RAM and never ( and I mean never ) slows down or has to load stuff due to processor speed. I got a gaming PC in other words and I thought I might as well join a site that would of previously crashed my old PC that my freind had joined a while ago ( same guy from above ) DTOID! and so here I am enlightened from my fanboyism (mostly) and ready to become a productive member of DTOID.
